Cong campaign to ‘expose BJP’ over Ram temple donation theft

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Congress on Thursday announced a statewide campaign to “expose BJP” over the Ram temple donation theft and said its cadre will reach out to people at the grassroots to apprise them about it.“The issue relates to the faith of millions of devotees and we demand that the complete SIT report on it be made public,” said UP Congress incharge Rajendra Pal Gautam.Gautam questioned how details of the SIT investigation reached the media after the Supreme Court on Aug 17 directed the probe team to submit its progress report in a sealed cover.He also questioned reports that the SIT had given a clean chit to former Ram Temple Trust members Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, asking why the report and the basis for the conclusions had not been placed before the public.UP Congress president Ajay Rai said the party will form teams which will visit villages and households to highlight “donation and offering theft” and hold BJP and RSS accountable.Youth Congress vice-president and Ayodhya resident Sharad Shukla alleged that the SIT report had flagged supervisory lapses by Anil Mishra, including failure to ensure effective security measures. He questioned why action had not been taken against him.Congress demanded a high-level probe into land transactions involving the Temple Trust and questioned why Enforcement Directorate had not initiated investigation into alleged financial irregularities.
