Kaapa invoked against Arjun Ayanki

Kannur: The district administration has invoked Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (Kaapa) against Arjun Ayanki, who is accused in nine criminal cases. The district collector P Vishnuraj has ordered the police to place Ayanki under preventive detention at Kannur central jail, citing his involvement in multiple criminal cases.The order was issued based on Kannur city police commissioner’s recommendation to the district collector.As per the order, Ayanki poses a threat to society and there is a possibility of being involved in more criminal activities if he is released on bail.Ayanki is currently under judicial custody and the police will formally record his fresh arrest based on the Kaapa order. He will be later produced at Kannur central jail.The accused was involved in several criminal cases, including gold smuggling and robbery.
