Hyderabad: Former minister and BRS legislature party deputy floor leader T Harish Rao on Sunday accused Telangana govt of failing to provide quality uniforms to students in govt schools and alleged that mounting Aarogyasri dues were affecting healthcare services.
Questioning chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s claims of a world-class education system, Harish Rao alleged that uniforms had not reached several schools and those supplied elsewhere were of poor quality. He said the sizes were incorrect, the stitching was coming apart and the colours were fading after washing.
He alleged that though two sets were to be provided to students, many schools had not received even one complete set. Harish Rao demanded an immediate inquiry into the alleged supply of substandard uniforms.
He also alleged that the govt had failed to release Aarogyasri funds to govt hospitals, resulting in salaries of scheme staff remaining pending for 18 months.
Harish Rao claimed that about ₹24 crore was pending for Siddipet govt hospitals since Nov 2023 and alleged that similar problems exist across the state. Delays in funding were affecting the hospitals’ managements, medicines, equipment and patient care, he added.
He further said that private hospitals providing Aarogyasri services were also facing prolonged payment delays and put the total pending hospital dues at ₹1,400 crore.
