Normal life unaffected in NK, KK regions

Hubballi: Karnataka Bandh call given by activist Vatal Nagaraj and other pro-Kannada and farmers organisations over Cauvery water sharing dispute issue failed and received a poor response in north Karnataka region on Thursday.In Hubballi-Dharwad, the bandh had no impact as normal life remained unaffected as bus services, schools and businesses operated as usual. No organisations supported the bandh and arrived to protest in the city.Uttara Karnataka Autorickshaw Drivers Association distributed roses at Chennamma Circle. Its president Shekariah Mathapati said that farmers are in distress due to lack of rain in some taluks. They should be given crop damage compensation. The govt should immediately take up and implement the Mekedatu project and should submit a petition to central govt to ensure that Kalasa Banduri water reaches the people of north Karnataka at the earliest.In Davanagere, Haveri, Chitradurga, Vijaypaura, Gadag, Bagalkot, and other districts, life remained completely normal, with no impact from the statewide bandh call. Commercial establishments, educational institutions, and public transportation functioned uninterrupted throughout the day.Various pro-Kannada organisations and farmer unions staged protests in Davanagere and Chitradurga as a symbol, but did not organise street demonstrations or road blockades.Bandh also evoked a poor response in Kalyana Karnataka districts.In Belagavi district, shops remained open, public transport operated normally, and bus services to neighbouring districts and states were unaffected. As a precautionary measure, a KSRP squad was deployed at the bus station.
