Bidar: Rural development and panchayat raj minister and Bidar district in-charge Eshwar Khandre has announced that a notification will soon be issued to fill 1,400 new posts in the rural development and panchayat raj department across the Kalyana Karnataka region, including Bidar district.
Speaking to TOI, Khandre said the state govt has initiated recruitment for 72,000 posts across departments. As part of the drive, appointment letters were handed over on Aug. 1 to 76 newly recruited panchayat development officers (PDOs) from the Kalyana Karnataka region. “I administered an oath of dedication and integrity to the recruits,” he said. Khandre also said 80 Grade-I secretaries from the region had been promoted as PDOs.
Highlighting development initiatives in Bidar, he said Rs 200 crore has been allocated to the Bidar City Corporation under the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Vikas Yojana 2.0 for 2026-27. The funds will be utilised for roads, drains and other civic infrastructure projects. An action plan is being prepared and will be submitted to the govt for approval shortly.
He said the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) has undertaken 5,814 works worth Rs 3,145.8 crore in the district so far. Of these, 4,767 works costing Rs 2,270 crore have been completed, while 642 projects worth Rs 643.5 crore are under progress and 404 works valued at Rs 345.7 crore are yet to begin.
For 2026-27, the board has sanctioned Rs 430.4 crore. Upgradation of six community health centres and expansion of Bhalki Taluk Hospital are also under way.
