HSNCB busts interstate opium network, arrests Assam-based supplier

Ambala: The Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau’s Ambala unit has arrested an Assam-based alleged drug supplier in connection with the seizure of 4.5 kg of opium, busting an interstate trafficking network.The accused, Diluwar Hussain of Assam’s Bongaigaon district, was arrested during a probe into the Aug 11 seizure. The operation was carried out under the directions of HSNCB chief ADGP Sanjay Kumar.On August 11, the Ambala unit registered an NDPS Act case at Parao police station after arresting Patiala resident Jasbir Singh with the contraband in his truck. The truck allegedly used to transport the opium was also seized.During interrogation and technical investigation, the HSNCB team gathered leads about the drug’s source. Acting on these, a team travelled to Assam and arrested Hussain.Investigators are questioning him to trace the opium’s source, transportation route and other persons involved in the interstate network.The bureau said further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other members of the network.
