2 held as Amritsar Counter Intelligence busts arms smuggling network

Amritsar: Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, has busted an illegal arms smuggling network with the arrest of two persons and recovery of 10 sophisticated pistols, magazines and 10 live 9mm cartridges, DGP Gaurav Yadav said in an X post on Sunday.Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly in contact with a foreign-based handler and receiving consignments from across the border for supply in Punjab, he added.An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar.Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages, identify other persons involved and uncover the wider cross-border arms smuggling network, the cop said.
