Police hunt for man suspected of killing lover’s two minor sons in Chhatarpur

Bhopal: Two brothers, aged 11 and nine, were allegedly abducted and killed after leaving school in Lavkushnagar, with police suspecting a man who was allegedly in a relationship with their mother of the double murder. The boys’ bodies were found floating in a well on Sunday, two days after they went missing. The suspect has not yet been arrested.The boys were students at a local private school. Police suspect Balakesh Singh, who allegedly had a relationship with their mother, of abducting and killing them, possibly because he considered the children an obstacle to the relationship.SP Rajat Saklecha said CCTV footage showed Balakesh taking the two boys with him. “It is yet to be confirmed if the boys were killed and thrown into the well or whether they were thrown alive,” he said.Police teams are searching for the suspect and said efforts were under way to arrest him.According to police, Balakesh frequently visited the boys’ mother and was known to the children. Investigators suspect the brothers went with him willingly because they knew him.Police said the woman’s husband stays away and Balakesh allegedly wanted her to live with him. Investigators suspect he considered her children an obstacle and abducted them on a motorcycle before throwing them into the well.The brothers left school around 1 pm on Friday after classes ended but did not return home. Their family searched the neighbourhood and other likely locations before approaching police. A kidnapping case was registered against an unidentified person.Police formed multiple teams and launched a search operation. During the search, the brothers’ bicycle was found parked near a shop a short distance from the school, while their schoolbags were also found there, raising suspicion that they had been taken away.Investigators examined CCTV footage from the school and along the likely routes taken by the children. Police said the footage showed Singh taking both boys with him.Based on the CCTV footage and other leads, police reached a well near Pahadtare Ka Purwa on Sunday. The brothers’ bodies were found floating in the water. Police, with the help of locals, recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem.
