Man on bail kills 35yo son for shielding wife from assault

Pilibhit: A 60-year-old man out on bail in a murder case allegedly struck and killed his 35-year-old son with a spade after the victim stepped in to protect his wife from verbal and physical abuse in Puraina village, Lakhimpur Kheri.Roshan Lal was critically injured and rushed to the Nighasan Community Health Centre. He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the district hospital.Following a complaint by the victim’s wife, Mausmi Lonia, police registered an FIR and arrested the accused, Lalta Prasad. According to Lonia, the dispute erupted around 6:00 pm on Saturday when Prasad began abusing her while she was serving him food. When Roshan intervened, an enraged Prasad struck him on the head with a spade.SHO Gopal Narayan Singh said that Prasad was earlier sentenced to life imprisonment in 2008 for a separate murder and was released on high court bail in 2022.Now, he has been booked for murder and remanded to judicial custody.
