Croc kills 12yo boy in Bahraich

Pilibhit: A 12-year-old boy was dragged into Ghaghra river by a crocodile when he was washing his hands and feet after working in a paddy farm with his uncle. The incident took place at Tikuri village under Mahsi tehsil circle in Bahraich district around 6pm on Thursday.Vijay Raj Singh, the boy’s uncle, said the crocodile tossed his nephew, Sunil Singh, in the air and swallowed him, despite his attempts to rescue him. Locals joined in and threw stones at the reptile. The mutilated remains of the boy were later found in the river.SDM of Mahsi circle, Prakash Singh, told TOI: “Sunil Singh was studying in Class VI at a govt upper primary school in the village. His parents had passed away about six years ago. He is survived by two sisters and a younger brother.”His siblings are now awaiting a compensation amount. Divisional forest officer, S Sundaresh, said it would be awarded only after a thorough investigation into the events leading to the boy’s death.
