Three-year-old girl seriously injured in stray dog attack in Beed
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A three-year-old girl sustained serious injuries after a stray dog attacked her while she was playing outside her home in Dhande Nagar area of Beed on Aug 20.The CCTV footage of the attack were widely circulated online on Sunday. The video shows the child playing outside her house when a stray dog suddenly charges from behind, knocks her to the ground and attacks her. Dinkar Sakrudkar, a local resident, said neighbours rushed to the spot after hearing the child’s cries and managed to drive the dog away. The girl suffered severe injuries to her face and required 12 stitches.“The girl is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. Her condition is said to be stable but she is under observation and receiving anti-rabies treatment,” Sakrudkar said. The incident has reignited concerns about the growing stray dog population in Beed. Residents pointed out that a similar attack on a young child was reported in the Dhanora Road area last month, while people in Mominpura allegedly faced stray dog attacks last week.“The incident has caused fear among residents, particularly parents of young children. The civic authorities must take adequate action to control the growing stray-dog problem in the city,” said resident Parmeshwar Kale.Residents have criticised the Beed Municipal Council for allegedly failing to control the stray dog population. Council president Premlata Parwe could not be contacted for comment.
