Abhijeet Dipke’s ‘School Thik Karo’ drive triggers repairs at his village school

HINGOLI: Repair work at a government school in the native village of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district began shortly after the activist highlighted gaps in basic facilities during a visit to the campus, news agency PTI reported.As per the PTI report, Dipke visited the Zilla Parishad-run school in Santuk Pimpri village on August 15 as part of the launch of the CJP’s ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, or Fix Schools drive.The 30-year-old activist also attended the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony at the school before inspecting its facilities. During the visit, he pointed to broken window panes in classrooms and raised concerns over the lack of other basic amenities.The local gram panchayat subsequently initiated repair work at the school.Santuk Pimpri sarpanch Vijay Puri said the deficiencies flagged by Dipke were being addressed."Abhijeet Dipke came to the school and checked its amenities. We have started working on them (infrastructure gaps highlighted by him). (Damaged) windows are being changed and defunct CCTV cameras are being replaced.""We are installing new window frames. There was also an issue of shortage of water in the toilets. We have arranged round the clock supply of water in the washrooms," the sarpanch said.PTI reported that senior officials from the state education department have also directed the school management to speed up repair and improvement work at the campus.The school headmaster confirmed that instructions had been received from higher authorities."We have received instructions from the higher authorities and accordingly repair works have been undertaken," he said.The developments came after Dipke's visit to the school as he began the CJP's ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, which focuses on highlighting infrastructure and basic amenity gaps in government schools.PTI reported that the repairs include replacement of damaged windows and defunct CCTV cameras, besides addressing the shortage of water in the school washrooms.(With agency inputs)
