Air India Express flight from Ranchi to Bengaluru delayed 5 hours over oxygen cylinder

RANCHI: An Air India Express flight from Ranchi to Bengaluru was delayed about five hours on Sunday after the airline arranged oxygen cylinders from Delhi following a passenger’s breathing difficulty on an earlier flight, an airport official said.
Air India Express flight IX 1239 had arrived at Birsa Munda Airport from Bengaluru at around 8.55 am.
During the journey, a passenger developed breathing problems and was given oxygen on board, the official said.
The passenger was stable after landing and later left for home.
The airline then arranged oxygen cylinders from New Delhi for the return flight to Bengaluru, resulting in a delay of nearly five hours.
"The flight number IX 1239 of Air India Express arrived here around 8.55 am. The return flight IX 1244 departed about five hours late for Bengaluru with passengers from Ranchi around 13:51 after oxygen cylinders were arranged from Delhi and brought here," Airport Director Vinod Kumar Singh said.
