A Sketch - with Cream & Gold

 Hello!

Well, I'll get right to it because I already missed Freshly Made Sketches ~

Yep, you may recognize the sketch even though I scooted mine over to the left to line up with the left side.  A bit of heat embossing, two "frames" cut and then a foiled sentiment brought this one all together.  Next time Freshly Made Sketches!  However, you can see that I used the Color Hues colors, as well.

Sorry my cardstock looks white, it is in fact cream (the exact same as above)!  I blame the photographer - ha!  I loved the colors at Color Hues, so I had to make another card.  This card was heat embossed on cream, frame cut out of Ivory glitter, then the sentiment gold foiled and layered.  This will also go to MFT #11 Sketch Challenge.

For a little something extra, the gold bow and gold pearls were added.  Again, my card looks white but it is not...

Had enough of this color mix?  Not me... I'll have another one soon.  This challenge allowed me to get several cards out that I was going to be needing, all next month!  Check - done - whew.

Success?

 Hello and welcome!

Today's card was made for a recent wedding, and the colors fit the bill.  However, while I like the card, it may have some success and some needing a do-over.  Let's take a look,

and by the way, there's some weird angles to show you the shine... ok, here we go ~

While this angle shows you no shine, you get a feel for the card.  The pretty flowers got lost and definitely the sentiment too.  Don't get seasick, but here comes the angle ~

Pointed away from me, and directly to the indirect light was the only way I could capture some shine.  The flowers and leaves were copic-colored after hot-foiling a NBUS plate with silver.  The vellum strip was a great way to not hide the image but a good place for the sentiment to land.  Maybe a smaller sentiment?  Everything was mounted on the card base, after adding the pierced panel.  So this one will go to NBUS #75.

I did use the colors from Color Hues' last challenge, the stenciling from JUGs' last challenge, but since it will be posted afterwards, I guess this will be visiting NBUS #74 today.

I used my NBUS pp/hfp for the background, the NBUS flowers, stencils and dies and a matching pre-foiled sentiment from my stash.  This card will be hand-delivered to the recipient today.

PFS August Create & Connect

 Hello!

I know I've been absent quite a bit, but I have had a chance to make a few cards.  I'll be trying to catch up with a few posts, so I hope I don't chase everyone away.

I had signed up for another PFS Event but was unable to make it due to family circumstances.  Here are my cards from Class 1, taught by Kim Kesti of Spellbinders, so we used a suite of their products called Gorgeous You - Perfume Bottle die, Flowers dies and sentiment stamps ~

This first design was Heather Hoffman's Make & Take, using the products and I absolutely fell in LOVE with it!  Sorry about the weird angle, but I wanted you to see the silver foiled sentiment.  The second is my take on her card, adding a little bit of color and sequins, but keeping it light.

My take on Lea Lawson's Make & Take -- softer colors and changing out the sentiment.

Congratulatory Pastels

Sending a warm welcome to all of you!

I had a bit of time to make a couple of cards this past weekend, and so I'll get this one posted.  This one will visit JUGs #686 - Color Week:  Pastels and NBUS #52 for the first glimmer plate outing.  These colors are really soft, and my card is definitely a bit "girly" - lol.

I hot-foiled the Bougainvillea plate with Aura foil, it's really pretty IRL!  I liked it because it added a soft yellow-ish color, which fit perfectly with the pastels.  The panel was cut down with an arched, scalloped edge before adding to the base.  Afterwards, I foiled the congratulations sentiment in the same aura on a matching cardstock.

While the foiling really looks like a satin gold here, it is similar yet so different.  I really love this color of foil!  This card will be going to a celebratory dinner for my cousin's wedding.  They eloped to Venice, Italy to get married but we'll gather in a week or so for a dinner celebration.

 

Oh!  And I think I'll send this over to Triple B:  July -- even though my colors aren't red, white & blue!

A Confession and a Challenge

OK so first things first...  Other than church and a short trip to the store, I spent my 3-day weekend in pajamas in my craft room!  While that's not bad, the number of "attempts" I made is positively horrendous!  I think I've just plum hit a wall...  

I was actually trying to enter the Twofer Challenge with yesterday's post but after chatting with Cat, I saw that they were two cards about love and while different, were actually too close.  Trust me, this is not blame, but that my eyes have been opened.  Onto today and trying more cards with the same SSS Heart of Roses die, and unfortunately more similar.  Bummer!  Then TOTALLY by accident, I was looking for some pp, which got flipped onto my desk haphazardly and skidded underneath a negative from one of the previous heart cuts, and a happy accident happened...

Isn't that just the sweetest frame?  After that "accident", it sure was easy to pick the theme for this one  :o)   The base cs is actually dark gray but shows black, which is unfortunate.  Now onto coming up with a DIFFERENT card, different layout...  Again I hit a wall, so I went to help my daughter finish up dinner, clean the kitchen and then ta-da... a second thought!

I like this one because of the semi-weeding...    I had difficulty placing it onto a background but then I came up with this dimensional ef that wasn't too girly -- sometimes difficult, especially when the card will be for Hubbs at some point.  I have to admit, I may not have to make another romantic card for a few years   :oP

Bride & Groom

Howdy, Friendsy Folks!  I made a card using inspiration from a couple of different challenges, but declined to play in either one!  I used this
  as my design and the now belated 
as my theme.  You see, the Wedding Invitation that we received  was a teal in color with random golden "dots".  So with that in mind, I created this...

While the A2CAS challenge was over, and the MFT Wednesday sketch is still going, I could not find any MFT supplies that fit what was in my brain and what I had on hand!  I do like the card, as it is reminiscent of the Invite, using the same colors and "bubbles" or dots.  I'll take the inspiration from where I can get it, am I right?!  The wedding was last night, so it is in the recipient's hands.

Bride & Groom

One of the amazing events I was privileged to participate in this summer was the marriage of our middle daughter!  It all started in August when we went to Rockaway Beach. OR to stay in another son-in-law's family's beach house.  We were fortunate that Daughter #2 was able to fly in from Denver, to be with the rest of us there plus bring her fiance to meet the family!  What an amazing time, beautiful weather, fun times to include beachcombing, relaxation, shopping, great food and even a night at a local karaoke bar!  Yah, yah, you'd never expect me there but we had a wonderful time and it was amazing to meet a man who would shortly join our family.  BTW I have some pretty talented son-in-laws (and one "to be") with mad karaoke skills!

After the quick "meet", we flew to Denver early in September to be present at our daughter and new son-in-law's wedding.  A family dinner the night before, then...  The wedding was beautiful at an AirBnB up in the hills overlooking the great outdoors with family and some friends.  We only had a few short hours to actually be with them, but we were blessed to be there and enjoyed every second!

Ok, Ok, onto the card that I made for them, I actually LOVE the simplicity....

The stamp is so delicate that it challenged me to try to get it to show a bit more.  I stamped and embossed several times, but it's still pretty light.  It's in a silver tone to match the silver cs below.  I purposely shortened the front panel because I really liked that the white showed and gave it even more contrast.  Here's a close-up -

Wedding Wishes

Best wishes to a co-worker and her fiance (now husband).  This was done in colors of the wedding, and I can already say that I wish I had done this a little different...  Although I like this card, it needed a pop and it seems to me that those "mind flashes" come a little too late too often for me.  Anyway, here she goes...

FMS260, SS Wed, CTS #196 - Mr and Mrs

Made a little card for a wedding, a water colored panel with several layers to get deeper colors.  I had the die cut heart left from another project so I wanted to use it and accent the deep blue.  It was heat embossed with a couple layers of silver ep.  I also embossed the sentiment, added a couple sequins and the silver ribbon.

I love the sparkle of the silver ep!  An inside sentiment was added in the same distress ink used for the watercolored panel.

Forever -- Wedding Wishes

Quick post.... a Wedding card for my youngest daughter, her nuptual just yesterday.  I made this, it seems it took me forever, I couldn't seem to get the color I wanted, the idea I wanted wasn't working.... you know the routine.  Anyway, this is what I ended with, I hope they e)njoy it.

I started with a smooshed Inka panel with two colors.  I let it dry and added another layer, with thicker (less spritzing) paste to add deeper colors and let that dry again.  I then used the cover plate and cut the floral layer out of vellum and used Multi Matte Medium to attach it to the panel around the outer border and a few random spots, trying to make them inconspicuous.  I then embossed the sentiment on a thin strip of vellum and added a few sparkles.  Inside, the sentiment says "two hearts become one".  Here's a close-up of the shine...

The wedding was a beautiful nautical theme, with the colors actually navy and silver.  Nautical decorations abound,  some of them homemade, a sailboat topper on the cake, attendee signatures on a handmade wooden anchor by the Hubbs, "messages in a bottle" for the bride & groom, groomsmen wearing "hawaiian" sailboat shirts and bridesmaids wearing homemade dresses by the bride.  It was quite awesome!

A quick post for a busy weekend!  Attended a gorgeous wedding this evening and wanted to get the card posted, now that it's been given to the wonderful newlyweds.  So without further ado...

ETA:  This foiling  was actually an accident!  I die cut the word out of a toner paper, then decided to use opal foil, not considering that it was see-thru!  Well, I ended up liking the unexpected coloration that I got!  Go figure...  Another view to show the foiling and card in whole -
