On happiness – minute motivation

Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness.

– Robertson Davies

For your existential crises – moon

It glitters and shines

You see it atop a mountain and on the sea

The moon is the night’s wife

That my friend is life

Why hope is meaningful

Hope is that spark of light that faith brings to us. Hope is meaningful because it is a fuel for human existence. We should believe in the good with more fervency than the bad. The more we have hope, the brighter our lights will shine. And in that brightness lies the fruits of tomorrow.

The future is made green with hope. But like many good things, the feeling does not come easy. It takes practice to keep on believing the best of ourselves and the future. Remember that even though things may look grim there are still reasons to have hope. If there’s one thing not to give up, it’s hope.

Why you should not have a new year’s resolution

I remember those days when I was younger, before every new year I will think about resolutions to make. Sometimes I would have lists, though this lists most times did not make it into February. Then I reached a point where I stopped having them. A simple realization hit me, new year resolutions are just wishful thinking. Many people think that the start of a new year gives then superhuman strength to perform deeds to drastically change their lives. They believe that creating new year ‘goals’ mean something.

But that is not how life works. A new year is just like another new day. Vowing to do something just because it’s the beginning to of the new year means nothing – Nada, Ziltch. So, rather than have a ‘new year resolution’ have a lifetime resolution. This type of resolution will be practiced, remembered and renewed in your daily life. And most importantly this resolution must be followed with action. Without consistent action, all goals are just wishes.

A cure for loneliness

As the world advances, people increasingly fall into a pit of loneliness. Human contact has washed away to meaningless interactions. The social media world has inspired people to present a fake version of themselves. Loneliness happens when the true self has been ignored or hidden in the shadows for too long. The people pleasing masks worn creates a vacuum in our souls that longs to be filled.

The cure for loneliness is ourselves. It begins within. In order to be free from it, learning to love our real selves is necessary. Not the one forcefully presented on Instagram,or the fake one that we show family and friends. It is the hidden self which was long avoided. Being comfortable and at ease with ourselves is the cure for loneliness. Our fears and love which makes us real must be acknowledged in order to be free. It is a journey of self finding.

Meditation, soul searching and spiritual awakening is needed. We must ask-what makes us us? For ourselves we must see the composition of which our souls are formed. If we can be at peace with our real selves, we will not be lonely. We will be filled with light and love. Those that are truly meant for us will remain attracted to that light.

Happiness would become a familiar concept when you know yourself.

A fresh new start?

This is going to be a more personal post. You see I’m not used to telling much about myself to the outside world. But I’ve decided to do more of it because my stories deserve to be heard. I’m writing this post with another person’s phone. Mine had suddenly stopped functioning. This all happened so suddenly. Even my memory card which contain so many things had got missing. I had no idea how or when. This happened in a day. I can’t use my laptop to blog because it has no internet connection on it. So here I am improvising with my mother’s phone. I’ve just arrived home for my holidays in case you are wondering.

Why am I saying all these? The upheavals of life is the reason why. There is a reason Buddhists are not attached to any person or thing. Things come and go, so total reliance on anything physical results to disappointment. Many times it is impossible to control the twists and turns of the future, making frustration is prone.

The test is in how you use the new challenges life brings. Will it be used for better or worse? The answer lies in the steps taken. See a challenge as a means to elevating your consciousness.

I remember downloading a “good luck” app on my phone yesterday. The app let’s you make wishes and I saw good reviews on it.Several people said that it made their wish come true. Me being myself,i downloaded the app to try it. I made several wishes including being happy, rich and successful. The happiness and success wish was a big one for me, as they both went together in my opinion.

Strangely enough after making all my wishes, I restarted my phone only for it not to work anymore. I wondered if the universe was playing a trick on me. The phone had been showing signs of faults but this was too sudden. I make wishes only for my life to become worse, right? After several rounds of trying to charge the phone and failing to get it to start,i gave up.I opened the phone and with frustration yanked out the two sim cards and memory card. I did this without looking at it.When I looked I only found my sim cards out,my memory card was no where to be found. This made me think if I had bad luck.

I wondered why that app did not bring good luck. I wanted happiness but I got sadness;success but got failure. But now that I think of it,maybe that was what was needed to be happy. Maybe I needed to be free from my phone addiction and doing the same things over and over again. Maybe I needed a fresh new start! It could be that the universe wants me to do as Buddhists do and learn not to be attached.Sometimes happiness and success comes in unexpected ways.

This might be a test of character or might be indeed good luck. It could be a time for leaving old damaging habits behind. I feel it’s a time to know my worth and know that it is not in a bunch of pictures, PDFs and files. Everyone should.Though I don’t encourage people to throw their phones away or delete all their stuff, the need for breaking bad repetitive habits is important. A time away from what you are used to everyday will give time for self evaluation.

Sometimes motivation finds you, sometimes you find it yourself.

Let your life seek fuller expression

I have an advice for you.Yes you!Do not pass through this earth unsatisfied.Let your life be a physical(also spiritual and mental)manifestation of want you want it to be.If you want something, make up a plan to get it and believe you deserve your desire.Don’t let your current reality hold you back from living as you truely wish. Are you feeling dissatisfied?Confused on where you are in life right now?Angry at the present reality? Then your subconscious mind is telling you something.

The universe is telling you something, that you are not letting your life seek fuller expression. It is not comfortable being tied down when you can be something great,do something great!See I’m not telling anyone to go save the world or become a multi millionaire. Not everybody likes that life,or wants the emotions that comes with it.I want it,but you may not want it and that is perfectly okay. But you can make your life as amazing as it can possibly be.

It seems cliche but: be the best you can irrespective of the current physical situation. No matter what you see happening currently on this physical plane does not control you or your possibilities. You have to think beyond what is before your eyes, if seeking fuller expression of life is what you desire. To be trapped in a box ofrealitywill blind you to the truth of the infinite. There is no “reality”,there is only what you can currently see physically. The wise person knows that anything that can be thought of can be created. An example would be the impossible things of the past that are now not only possible today, but everyday norm.

Imagine you were alive before the conception of aeroplanes, could you have imagined that a flying metal thing would take people wherever they want in the world?Or that a rectangular object would be in almost all homes making them view whatever they cared for?Or that you and me could communicate “online” though we are miles away from each other? Not many would!Because it is so hard to see beyond the physical plane of what is possible and what is not.

We are so binded as humans on limiting ourselves by focusing on our scarce resorces when our minds cannot fathom the endless supply available for all. It’s like living in a world full of abundance and complaining about what is in front of you, instead of taking the next steps forward to see more.Another example is having a plate of food, then after you are done eating complain that the food was not enough, when there is literally pots full of food in the kitchen and more in the fridge. Why sit and complaining instead of getting up on your feet to locate what you want.

Live!Yes do that, instead of virtually being a walking corpse. If you want to learn to be a Jazz dancer,do that! It’s your dream not anybody’s.You don’t like working an office job, find what you want then quit!Don’t live just for the sake of “well I was throw on this earth and now I must survive through this bitter burden called life”.If you are happy for you existence then do things that make you happy.Because “tick tock” the time is going as fast for you as it does the person who is making pancakes smilling instead of being a lawyer because his parents told him to.Working yourself like a mule would not ellongate your days or give you people’s praise.Balance is the key.Do not let the judgements of others keep you down, because remember that no matter what you do people would still find a way to criticize you.You might be Mother Theresa and people would still speak ill of you. They may even prefer you to be a super model instead! That’s people for you.

Read the words below and get comfortable using your thought-self in your day to day life.

There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and

which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the

interspaces of the universe.

A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged

by the thought.

Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his

thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks

about to be created.

Letting go-might just be your path to happiness

We hold unto things too much, sometimes to our own detriment.Happiness is not to be fought for.At least most of the time( find out below). Many times we do not realize this as we continue struggling.Happiness is wrongly attached to unimportant things. We feel that if we can get something or reach some height of fulfilment of some sort that we will be happy. At the end of the day we find out that after getting to that place, we are still unhappy. It is by our lack of understanding of what happiness means/is that we feel this way. This is not saying that ones shouldn’t have goals rather that happiness is not dependent on situation.

You cannot force happiness or struggle for it.Letting go is a way of healing pains and soothing wounds.Things fall back into their right place when we don’t constantly try to wield things by our desires. The peace in having a free mind without judgements and attachments creates happiness.HAPPINESS RESULTS FROM NOT JUDGING YOURSELF.There is this live and let live mentality you would see in many happy people. The love comes naturally,it is not forced.Love should always come naturally.

Sometimes we try too hard.We fight too hard.We hold on to our fears/aspirations/believes too strongly. We gasp too fast. And we let go way to slow. What do you know of happiness if you are bound by…whatever it is you are bound by.When you feel like(insert thing)makes/breaks you,you can’t be happy. We must let go of limitations to inner satisfaction.Happiness is falling in love with oneself unconditionally.Eventhough you do not sense a lot of love from other, you have to be your best fan.

I think and think and think, I‘ve thought myself out of happiness one million times, but never once into it.

Jonathan Safran Foer

To be so strong that nothing

can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.

To think only the best, to work only for the best,
and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others
as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past
and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times
and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself
that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear,
and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world,
not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side
so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

Christian D. Larson

A few times, happiness is to be fought for.But these times are rare  which would be known when they arrive. These quotes below highlights on that.

Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it.

Elizabeth Gilbert

Learn to value yourself, which means: fight for your happiness.-Ayn Rand

In conclusion, your happiness is in your hands.
