Cute Teacher Cake Ideas

I have seen lots of ideas for teacher appreciation next week and thought I would add a few to the mix.

This was done for a teacher’s birthday and her students each got an “apple” cupcake, but you could easily make enough cupcakes for the entire staff!

This was done for a retiring teacher and his class, but again, easily changed to teacher appreciation. Kids probably don’t know what a chalkboard is now anymore though!!!

Another idea including an apple!

On the subject of apples – a cake done for a half birthday…

Individual covered 5 oz. cups with M&M’s or some candy in the bottom to weight it with a cupcake topper.

Or a small cupcake bouquet with a simple frosting swirl…

This is simply 7-5 oz. plastic cups stapled together and covered with tissue paper.

Cupcakes are very versatile – you can go simple or elaborate, but everyone seems to love them!

Sports Ball Cupcakes

So – I have been a little absent from posting the last couple weeks. I have lots of things in the works, but nothing really completed! I started on my closet curtains and even finished the cornice where they are going to hang from but I don’t want to show you until I have my curtains complete! Hopefully I’ll get more of a chance to work on it next week.

It’s been busy around here with calving and I try to help out my husband as much as possible. He doesn’t get much sleep so it is the least I can do! I do wish it would warm up. You definitely get a work out clomping around in winter boots, coveralls and a heavy coat. (Not that I couldn’t use a good workout !!!)

I have also been doing quite a few cake orders as of late. It goes by streaks, I will have a couple weeks without any and then I have several in one weekend. Kind of hard to stagger birthdays though! Graduation is looking to be a really busy time also this year.

These sports ball cupcakes are really fun and this is the second time I have done them for this little boy’s birthday. I did the same thing a couple years ago when he was two and his grandma says that that is what he talks about and remembers most so they got him the sports ball cupcakes again. They are really quite simple, but have a big impact, especially nice for boys.

Maybe this will give you an idea for your son/grandson/nephew’s next birthday!

Monkey Baby Shower

I just got home from a baby shower for my little nephew. He is a cutie pie and well-behaved to boot! His grandma put on the shower and went with the jungle/safari theme. We had banana punch, banana splits and banana cupcakes with chocolate cream cheese buttercream. I made the cupcakes and the little display cake – a monkey with bananas of course!

Isn’t he adorable?!!?!?!

(I’m talking about my nephew, but the monkey turned out pretty cute too!)

The cake is a 6″ round with a half ball pan on top. It is covered in a yellow buttercream and fondant bananas with a fondant monkey. Everything is edible except for the skewer holding the monkey in place.
