CANADA GEESE

If I can find a good picture of some of our many ducks, I will do them next, but meanwhile, it's definitely time for the geese. In the name of using materials I already own, I'm "using up" a couple of big pads of paper. This is my least favorite paper. It is light gray … Continue reading CANADA GEESE

LIFE OUTSIDE THESE WALLS

I know that I have to be patient and wait for my head to stop hurting, for the dizziness to get less dizzy, for my eyes to line up in a more orderly way. I know. But we had some lovely weather and I wanted to at least enjoy a little of it. Yesterday morning, … Continue reading LIFE OUTSIDE THESE WALLS

NOVEMBER ALONG THE BLACKSTONE

Not a lot of time between the ending of the foliage and the start of winter. Well, there used to not be much time. Now, it's hard to tell. Today was a perfect day. Cool enough. Bright, sunny, clear. Some people plant various kinds of reeds as part of their garden, but I'm in love with the natural reeds you'll see along all our riverbanks and the … Continue reading CEE’S CFFC: LOVING REEDS AS FLOWERS

LIVING THROUGH A DROUGHT

It hasn't rained in weeks and it has been very hot. The trees are dropping green leaves which is a very unhealthy sign for the trees. It means that the roots are dying and many of these trees will die and not come back in the spring. The forsythia are turning brown. The rivers are … Continue reading LIVING THROUGH A DROUGHT

A MOUNTAINSIDE SUMMER BY EMILY DICKINSON

New England has a pretty big collection of native poets, of which Emily Dickenson was one. This poem so reminded me of this valley, with its hill and valleys and the mist over of the river. A good poem for summertime.
