Yearning for Trees

Twenty-four years ago, we came back to life amidst tree I need a green world. … Continue reading Yearning for Trees
FLU SHOTS AND SEASONAL EXHAUSTION
It was pouring yesterday. New York city got more than 8 inches of rain, Brooklyn having been hit the worst. We got a lot too. Inches for sure. We had gotten two non-rainy days, but Ophelia, the hurricane that was, hasn't left. She's doing what storms often do -- circling and drenching us. As if … Continue reading FLU SHOTS AND SEASONAL EXHAUSTION
FIRE AND ICE – Robert Frost
He was our "local" poet. I have always loved his poems, but even more since I moved to New England. He understood this place and its people. We have a portrait of him taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt hanging in our dining room. He was one of Garry's first interviews as a Boston reporter. Drawing: Marilyn … Continue reading FIRE AND ICE – Robert Frost

The scarlet heat-saturated weather maps we saw throughout August and September are now shades of blue. Winter is hard on the small creatures. I will do my best for them. My mother used to sing nursery rhymes to me … Continue reading THE NORTH WIND DOTH BLOW…

America’s Burning | lifelessons – a blog by Judy Dykstra-Brown
AMERICA'S BURNING By JUDY DYKSTRA-BROWN America’s Burning Count the faces. Take a tally of the peaceful protest rally. Their routine is most well-planned, masks in place, placards in hand. Enter police. Down on belly!!! Enter newscasters for telly. Teargas in the people’s park, Truckloads arrive after dark. Rioting and smashing glass. Other dark deeds come … Continue reading America’s Burning | lifelessons – a blog by Judy Dykstra-Brown
HUNKER IN THE BUNKER – RICH PASCHALL
A Viral Verse, by Rich Paschall It's time to hunker in your Bunker. But don't sequester next to Lester. He might have the virus. He's been sitting close to Iris. FIRE AND ICE By ROBERT FROST
I have always loved this poem. It is one of the few I have committed to memory. Today, I think it has acquired new and fearsome levels of meaning, many more than it had when I first read it, many years ago.
