COCKATOO WITH SUPER BEAK

Racket was out of his cage. Nothing unusual about that, except that usually when I let him loose, I'd make sure to put away anything I cared about to avoid having Racket destroy it. It was futile but I felt obliged to try. Racket, as his name implied, was a charming, noisy Lesser Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo. He … Continue reading COCKATOO WITH SUPER BEAK

ONE-TO-THREE PHOTO PROCESSING

One-to-Three Photo Processing Challenge: February 2022 Lately, all my photographs are either birds, squirrels, or a great deal of snow. Well, it's winter and it's February in New England. Even were it not for the lockdowns, this time of year in this part of the world is limited by the cold and the weather. So, … Continue reading ONE-TO-THREE PHOTO PROCESSING

THE DAY SQUIRREL MET MR. TOAD

Some of you may remember that we have always kept a stone toad -- like the toad in "Wind in the Willows" on the deck. He sat peaceably on the railing. He sat on that rail for almost 20 years. Through snow, rain, and summer's heat, Mr. Toad smiled. A couple of months ago, the … Continue reading THE DAY SQUIRREL MET MR. TOAD

LITTLE CRITTERS (SMALLER THAN A BREADBOX)

CBWC: Smaller than a Bread Box or Bread Bin Dedicated to the little critters that live in my backyard. Smaller than a bread box (squirrels have to tuck in their tails) and always fighting to get that last seed to store in their "winter is coming" pantry.

SATURDAY’S BIRD

Saturday's bird is an odd-looking Cardinal  I took some shots in the morning and decided to wait until the afternoon for the rest of the pictures because of the sun's morning glare. Naturally, by the time I realized I should take some pictures, it was almost dark. With the winter time change, sunset is so … Continue reading SATURDAY’S BIRD

MORE BIRDS IN THE SNOW AND COLD

I have a lot more pictures. A LOT more. And two more cards with all birds too. I stopped shooting a little while ago. I spend ALL day yesterday processing photographs and I'll need another whole day to process the next batch. I like to think the time is worth it, but sometimes, I need … Continue reading MORE BIRDS IN THE SNOW AND COLD

BIRDS AND BUSHES

Racket had gotten out of his cage. Nothing unusual about that, except that usually when I let him loose, I'd make sure to put away anything I cared about to avoid having Racket destroy it. It was  futile but I felt obliged to try. Racket, as his name implied, was a charming, noisy Sulpher-Crested Cockatoo. … Continue reading BIRDS AND BUSHES

WIRES AND THE WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH – Marilyn Armstrong

White-Breasted Nuthatch with wires as fall washes away  We almost had a real Autumn. The leaves were just beginning to change for real. A bit of red was showing in the maple tree in front of the house. But tonight, the winds are coming up and the rain is coming down. It's the end of … Continue reading WIRES AND THE WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH – Marilyn Armstrong

THE COLOR IS RED: WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – Marilyn Armstrong

Weekly Photo Challenge: RED I just happen to have some red birds to show you. I know. You're shocked, aren't you? That I have red birds. That's right. All red birds and birds with red heads. Birds with lots of red on their head and some with just a little bit.
