Iran reserves right to respond harshly to any US or Israeli aggression — envoy to UN

The United States will be fully responsible for the grave consequences of any hostile action, the country’s permanent representative to the UN Amir Saeid Iravani said

UNITED NATIONS, April 1. /TASS/. Tehran reserves the right to respond swiftly and harshly to any US or Israeli aggression against Iran, the country’s permanent representative to the UN Amir Saeid Iravani said in a letter sent to the UN Security Council.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran remains firmly committed to regional peace, stability, and security and has no interest in conflict or escalation. However, it strongly warns against any military adventurism and will respond swiftly and decisively to any act of aggression or attack by the United States or its proxy, the Israeli regime, against its sovereignty, territorial integrity, or national interests. The United States will be fully responsible for the grave consequences of any hostile action," the diplomat emphasized.

On March 30, US President Donald Trump said that he would impose secondary tariffs on Tehran in two weeks if no progress was made in negotiations on Iran's nuclear program. He threatened that the country would face unprecedented bombardment in the event of a total refusal to reach an agreement.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, for his part, responded to Trump's threats by saying he did not believe in the possibility of US military intervention. However, according to him, if Washington tries to revolt in the country, it will receive a harsh response.
