HARARE, March 31. /TASS/. The US Africa Command has found itself on the spot as US President Donald Trump doubts the need for the Pentagon to maintain military presence in Africa, according to the Africa Report.
"US Africa Command is in the hot seat on Capitol Hill as MAGA questions the value of military intervention in Africa," the report said. "Head of AFRICOM General Michael Langley is expected to testify before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, April 3, in the first of several hearings before Department of Defense overseers and military spending appropriators over the next several weeks."
NBC News reported on March 18 that the Trump administration is considering a slew of measures to cut spending and shift focus to the Indo-Pacific region and rivalry with China, including the possibility of folding AFRICOM and the US European Command into a single unit headquartered in Stuttgart.
