Before you connect a computer
The practical answers.
What hardware can I use?
Use a supported Windows 10/11 or Linux PC, mini PC, home server, or VPS with enough resources for your game. You’ll need Docker Desktop in Linux-container mode on Windows, or Docker Engine or rootful Podman on Linux. The setup guide walks you through installation.
Do I need port forwarding?
Not when a supported deployment uses the managed shared relay. Direct-connect paths may still require it; the game guide explains the right path.
What does “free” include?
One connected host, as many game servers as it can run, local backups, and the core browser tools. Managed shared relay and custom DNS are included where supported. You provide the hardware.
Where are my game files?
Worlds, configuration, and local backups remain on the host you control. You can manage files and restore backups from your browser.
How does automatic failover work?
Use a Swarm Zone with at least three hosts and 3-copy protection. Recovery needs two healthy peers on the same network, a recent verified backup, enough capacity, and confirmation that the original server is stopped. If its host cannot respond, automatic recovery waits for you to review and approve recovery. Progress since the backup may be lost.
