Label assets that are AI edited or created
AI regulations in the European Union, India, and New York require that ads with certain AI-generated or edited assets include disclosures and/or labels that inform consumers that the ads were made with AI.
Add labels directly to your creatives or use the AI label setting in Google Ads, Display & Video 360, Campaign Manager 360, Merchant Center, and Ads Editor to add AI labels to your creatives. Learn more about how to Use AI content label settings to label your ads.
Notes
- These labels will not be in violation of Google policies prohibiting text overlays and watermarks.
- Use of the AI label setting in Google’s advertising products doesn't guarantee your compliance with specific regulations. Seek legal guidance and take measures as needed to ensure your ads and assets follow all local legal obligations and policies
Merchant Center can automatically update your product images to make sure they meet guidelines and are approved to show on Google. This setting is turned off by default, but you can turn it on in Merchant Center by navigating to the "Automations" tab under the "Products" section at any time.

How do automatic image improvements attempt to fix promotional overlays?
Product images that contain promotional elements or overlays aren’t allowed and may cause your products to be disapproved. If you turn on automatic image improvements, Merchant Center will try to fix these images by removing any text, watermarks, overlays, or logos detected in the image. If successful, the system replaces the image and your product may be approved. If you're not satisfied with the improved image, upload a new image without the promotional overlay.

Next steps and what to expect
Automatic image improvements may not resolve all issues. If the system can’t fix the image without lowering its quality, the original image will remain. This may occur with:
- Complex multi-panel collages
- Heavy text overlapping main product features
- Strong or dense watermarks
You’ll then need to upload a new image that complies with our policies and image requirements. After updating your product image, make sure that the issue is no longer listed on the “Needs attention” page.
Check which products were automatically improved
You can download a list of products that were automatically improved from Merchant Center:
- Go to Products, and select the history graph.
- Look for “Automatic improvement: image quality
[image_link]” in the “What needed attention” column. - Expand that issue and select View fix.
- From the issue details page, you’ll be able to download the list of impacted products.
Turn on automatic image improvements
- Go to Products under “Products & store”, and select the Automations tab.
- Find the image improvements setting.
- Select View details and use the toggle to turn the setting on or off.
