Altered Dies #6

Hi and welcome back to Altered Dies #6! I have had so much fun with these altered dies. I do not have a hot air balloon die so I looked through my dies to see how I could make one. Here are the steps below.

I started with these 2 dies -- Spellbinders Birdcage 1 and the smallest Fleur de Lis Rectangle.

I snipped off the top of the birdcage with scissors.

I wanted the "basket" of the balloon to have more texture like a basket so I used the Spellbinders die Raindrops On Roses made for Heartfelt Creations.

I used glue stick to glue the die over the rectangle so that I could cut around it easily.

Here is a close up of the card to see the texture on the basket better.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I made this hot air balloon. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful and blessed day!

Christmas Fun

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a Christmas card I made using this cute little House Mouse fellow. I used the Cheery Lynn snowflake 1 die three times. They are the 2 snowflakes sticking out on the edges and one is behind the little mouse. I added Sparkle embossing powder to each one, courtesy of Sparkle N Sprinkle. Sprinkle Sugar Stickles was used around the edges of card and on the mouse's hat. Two glitter snowflake stickers were also added to the card.

Here is another angle of the card where you can see the glitter and embossing powder better.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Celebrate

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. It is nice and sunny here at my house. I want to share a birthday card I made using House Mouse stamps. I know no better way to be in the kitchen than baking a birthday cake! I will be doing that soon as my husband's birthday is not far away.

This is a Z fold card. Above is the card folded and below is the card opened.

On the bottle of ink on the front of the card I colored with copics and used Stickles Sprinkled Sugar glitter glue over the top. On the cake's icing on the inside of the card, I used Copper Flame embossing powder by Sparkle N Sprinkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a GREAT day!

Oldies Technique #7 -- Shave Cream Background

Hi Everyone, welcome to my blog.  I have another Oldies technique to share with you today. I am showing how to make a marbled background by using shave cream. You never know how the design will turn out, so it is fun to play with!

Here are the supplies you will need:

shave cream -- foam NOT the gel
white or cream matte or glossy card stock - I used white matte for brighter color
old credit card or gift card for scraping
toothpick or small pointed tool
several colors reinkers - I used 3 colors of Adirondak reinkers
craft mat for the mess
flat container for the shave cream -- I used a shallow metal pan
cloth for blotting

Spray some shave cream in the pan and flatten it out a little by pushing a scrap piece of card stock down on it. Then add several drops of each color of reinkers on the shave cream.

Take the pointed tool -- I used a score tool -- and swirl it around and back and forth to move the reinkers. This will make a pattern.

Now take you card stock and lay it on top of this and press down some.

This is how it looks when you lift off the card stock.

Now take the gift card and scrape off the shave cream. The pretty pattern will be left on the card stock! You may need to blot off some excess shave cream with a cloth after scraping.

I thought this background, even though lovely, was a little too bright for my card, so I pressed another piece of card stock in the same shave cream without stirring it and this is how it looked. I used this piece for my background on my card. You can keep using the same shave cream over and over to get lighter backgrounds.

Here are 2 other pieces using different colors of inks.

Here is one done using glossy card stock. On the glossy, the colors are lighter because the card stock is not as porous.

I hope you liked the technique today and I hope you will have some time to play with this. Your cards will smell nice for awhile too! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday

Hi and welcome to my blog. I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a birthday card I made with a House Mouse stamp. I used embossing powder with glitter in it for the cake "frosting." I fussy cut the party hat out of patterned paper and pop dotted it on the mouse's head. The balloons at the top are dies from The Spiral Circle Pull Card die by Elizabeth Craft. I also added some Diamond Glaze to the plate to make it shine.

I made this swing card using the Sizzix  Fancy Labels die.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hi Everyone. I am so glad that Spring is here. We have had some pretty days in between the rain. I chose to use the Friendship Flowers stamp set because this set reminds me so much of Spring. I am ready to start planting flowers! The frame on my card is an svg. I used Sparkle embossing powder EP107 on the pink edges for shimmer. I also used it on some of the flowers. I colored the watering can with copics and used Clear Detail embossing powder EP280 on it so that it would look shiny.

All the layers are popped up to give the card dimension.

Love You A Latte

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a card I made using one of Sparkle N Sprinkle's new stamp sets called Espresso Yourself 699. I do not drink coffee but I sure do love the smell of it brewing!

I had so much fun making my background using white stencil paste and embossing powders. Here is a short tutorial.

I used very dark brown card stock and taped my stencil over it to hold it down well. ( TIP )

I covered the whole card stock and stencil with white stencil paste.

When the stencil is lifted off it looks like this.

This is the fun part. I sprinkled Sienna Star EP425, Tuscan Star EP426 and Log Cabin EP397  embossing powders over the wet stencil paste. I then heat set the embossing powders with my heat tool. I got this beautiful shimmery and textured background!

I also used Brown Fizz EP381 embossing powder for the "coffee" in the cup and on the saying. Diamond Glaze was used on the coffee cup to make it look like porcelain. You can see some of the shine on the edge of the saucer.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Hi Everyone and welcome to my blog! I chose to use the Coffee Shoppe stamp set 695 for my reveal today. I am looking forward in being able to sit outside a coffee shop when the weather gets warm. I am looking forward to Spring! I had this awning die from Savvy Dies that went perfect with the cafe. I "glittered" the pink stripes on the awning and curtains by using my versamarker and adding Sparkle embossing powder EP107. I also used Sparkle embossing powder on the banner.

On the flower boxes I used Copper Flame embossing powder EP453 to make them look like metal flower boxes. Flower soft was used for the flowers. On the windows I used Clear Detail embossing powder EP280.

Berry Delicious

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. I want to show you a card I made with the Berry Sundae stamp set 688 from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I just love this set. I love ice cream, so this is right down my alley! I used Sparkle embossing powder EP107 on the stripes on the patterned paper. Winter Berry embossing powder EP411 was used on the raspberries. White Liquid Applique was used for the whipped cream. Sparkling Snow glitter G1003 was sprinkled over the "ice cream."

I used an embossing folder for the background behind the ice cream bowl, cut out a window using a die cut and popped up the piece over the bowl. Diamond Glaze was used on the bowl to make it look like glass. Corner dies were used to dress up the corners of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope your day is as yummy as ice cream!

Hi Everyone! I chose to use the Berry Sundae stamp set 688 on my card this month. Ice cream is my most favorite dessert in all the world! The more chocolatey and chunky the better! LOL! I had a pad of paper that went perfectly with this set.

This is how the card looks when it is closed. I used Dazzling Rose glitter G1085 on the berries.
