It's In The Bag

This week the Stampendous Design Team is playing with a canvas bag from Canvas Corp.  You will want to visit the other designers pages to see how different everyone's bag is, and all that you can do with it.  Hop around and leave comments on the designers blogs, for a chance to win the awesome prize pack shown below (see the official rules on who is eligible to win). Australian fans can comment for a chance to win a Stampendous Stamp, a Dreamweaver Stencil and a surprise Stampendous goodie.

When decorating your Canvas Shoulder Bag, you can be elaborate or neat and clean which is the way I went. Here is my bag and how it was made.

1.  Stencil the Large Flourish Stencil on the bottom right using a #6 Gold Handle stencil brush and stipple on Twisted Citron paint.

2.  Stencil on a Dragonfly  with Cracked Pistachio paint.

3.  Place the Birthday Words stencil on the left side of the bag and stipple with Jet Black StazOn ink.

4.  Place three self adhesive pearls over the dragonflies body and randomly place pearls around the Large Flourish.

5.  Glue May Arts Ribbon to the top of the bag using Fabri-Tac glue.

Stampendous And Spellbinders Make Things Beautiful!

We’re excited, once again, to be partnering with Spellbinders for a Spring mini blog hop! As Spellbinders design partners this year, Stampendous has been blessed to use many of their exciting products and they are using ours. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week the Stampendous Design Team will be sharing fun projects made with the Spellbinders products we’ve received.  Wednesday Stampendous will be a featured company on their blog and two of our designers will be posting tutorials focused on the newest Spellbinders products.

Here is my project

1.  I painted this wooden box with acrylic paint from DecoArt Americana in Sky Blue and Cottonball.  When dry randomly stamp Vintage Contract using Tuxedo Black Memento and swirl from Frantage Flowers Perfectly Clear Stamp Set with Beige Brilliance.
2.  A white octagon was randomly stamped with a flower from the Frantage Flowers Set repeatedly with Beige Brilliance and set aside.
3.  Stamp Beautiful Life on a smaller blue octagon with VersaMark ink and emboss with black.  Sprinkle edges with Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel and heat from underneath so the powder doesn't blow off and set aside.
4.  Die cut Spellbinders Grateful Lattice from light blue cardstock, sponge with Stonewashed Adirondack ink and sprinkle with Shabby White Embossing Enamel again heating from the bottom, set aside.
5.  Die Cut Dreamweaver Stencils DD003 Leafy Branch stencil from light green paper and sponge with Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
6.  Now to assemble.  Brush the box with Americana Decou-Page from DecoArt. Lay the white octagon on the wet Decou-Page.  I let it dry a bit then brushed the top again with Decou-Page, laid down the blue octagon, let dry a bit.  Repeat this process with the Grateful Lattice and the Leafy Branch and end with one final coat of Decou-Page.
7.  Using Faber-Castell Pitt Pens in Cold Grey III and Black 199, trace around the octagons and leaves, blending with your finger.
8.  The flowers are made with Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One.  Place die on decorative papers and run through your die cut machine.  Sponge edges with Tea Dye Distress Inks to give them an antique look, then tightly roll the flowers starting from the center. Glue the bottom of the flowers with 3 in 1 Glue from Beacon Adhesives, it dries pretty fast.  Glue flowers to the box using 3 in 1 Glue.

Don't Throw That Paper Bag Away!

I seem to be on a recycling kick lately you know we crafters love to use things we already have!  This is a compostion book and the front was covered with a paper grocery bag that had been painted, here is how it was done using stamps and glitter from Stampendous.
1.  Cut paper bag about an inch more than you need on the top and side, lightly spritz with water and crumple it up, open it and crumple again.  The water helps with crumpling up the bag.  Lay paper piece flat on your work surface but don't flatten to much, you want the crumpled effect.
2.  Randomly place dots of DecoArt Americana paint on bag, for this I used cottonball, lavender fields and sky blue.  Fold bag over in half, lightly rub, open and fold again slightly off setting where it had been placed.  Repeat until you get desired look.  On mine some of the kraft bag is showing through which is fine since my image is stamped on kraft paper.

3.  While wet you can sprinkle with glitter if you would like...doesn't everything look better with glitter?! Stampendous Micro Glitters in Crystal, Ice Blue and Lavender were used.

4.  Once dry glue to the composition book using 3 in 1 Glue by Beacon Adhesive.  You can roll over the top of your paper with a brayer to smooth it out and to help with the glue. (Do NOT use brayer to apply glue!)

5.  Turn your composition book over on a cutting mat and using a kraft knife cut off excess paper.
6.  Stamp Bike Basket from Stampendous in black on kraft paper, color with colored pencils and stamp NOTES on the banner using letters from the Small Typewriter set.

7.  Apply Duo Glue to Maya Road Jonathan Chipboard Alphabet (after you have painted them with cottonball paint) and sprinkle with Crystal Micro Glitter and shake off.

8.  Punch a butterfly out of kraft paper, edge the wings with Zig 2 Way Glue marker, sprinkle with Ice Blue Micro Glitter and add pearls to the body.

9.  Use a tape runner to attach blue ribbon from May Arts to cover up the seam to the left.

10.  Glue down all of your pieces with 3 in 1 Glue and your done.
