Woodblock Wednesday - Floral Anniversary

Amy Tsuruta generously hosts a monthly challenge for all of us who still treasure our woodblock stamps.  The last day of the month she invites everyone to dust off their woodblock stamps and create. During a recent antique trip, I came across a group of three floral stamps sitting all alone among a booth of other treasures.  Of course, they came home with me!  Lucky me - one of the stamps is Hero Arts Silhouette Spray (2010) and in perfect condition. The image was stamped with Adirondack Pesto, Lettuce and Mushroom dye inks then die cut with Unity Stamps Stitched Scallops & Arches nesting dies.  I lightly inked the edges with Latte dye ink.  The image was layered onto silver cardstock arched die.  I found the beautiful designer paper on a recent trip to my local Hobby Lobby store.  LOVE the colors!  It was mounted onto Stampin' Up! Always Artichoke card stock.  The card was finished with a woodblock sentiment from Hero Arts, gems, ...

Art Impressions Challenge: #251 Floral Cards

When I saw the current Art Impressions challenge was floral I pulled out all of my AI sets in search of flowers.  Can you believe it.... I only have two sets that contain a floral image!  Wow!  Well, His & Hers Gardners is one of my favorites and this window scene came immediately to mind.  This is not my typical style and it took three days to create, but well worth it in the end.  I really like how this turned out and I love the coordinating sentiment.  It makes me chuckle every time I use it! I started by stamping the gardener onto Copic marker paper and paper piecing with a scrap piece of gingham.  The image was colored with Copic markers and fussy cut.  The Madison window die, flower box and Grassland border die are all from Memory Box. The base panel is Stampin' Up!  Smokey Slate card stock and embossed with a Tim Holtz Brick emboss folder.  I added a little scrap dp behind the window as a curtain. I'm sharing ...

Art Impressions Challenge #149 - Feeling Frosty

Art Impressions is embracing the winter this week with a "Feeling Frosty" challenge. Although we don't have penguins in Alaska, I thought Penguin Pete (Sku G3060) would work perfectly for a frosty card. The stamp was embossed with CTMH Black embossing powder and colored with Copic marker then fussy cut. The snowy background was created using the Country Landscape die from Memory Box.  I tore a couple of strips from white cardstock then applied Stickles to the edge for snowy shimmer and dimension. Finally, I applied a line of glue to the edge of the base panel and sprinkled on Barbara Trombley's Art Glitter Faux Snow. I really like how this frosty card turned out! I'm also sharing my card with the following: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge:  Bling it On! Thanks for stopping by! I always enjoy reading your comments.
