About Babel
Babel is an innovative AI assistant and translator that completely eliminates friction in cross-lingual communication. Forget about switching tabs, annoying pop-ups, or endless copy-pasting. Babel works directly where you type.
Write your thoughts in your native language inside any browser input field (email, messengers, CRMs, social media), hit a single keystroke, and your text is instantly transformed.
Key Features:
Instant In-Place Translation: Translate text into 23 supported languages directly inside the active input field without ever losing focus.
Smart Tone Adjustment (8 Presets): Adapt your message's style with a single click. Make it professional (Business) for work emails, casual (Friendly) for chats, concise (Brief), or even use Slang.
Contextual Prompt Engineering: The AI engine analyzes the specific platform you are using, delivering the most organic and context-aware results tailored for that exact website.
Offline Typo Fixer: Instant, zero-latency correction of typos and formatting errors that runs entirely locally.
Uncompromising Privacy & Architecture: We build products from first principles. Babel is engineered with security at its core, utilizing a strict Zero-log DLP policy. It is the only application in its class that operates completely autonomously—requiring no account creation, no forced cloud synchronization, and absolutely no storage of your message history on third-party servers.
No visual clutter, just pure functionality and speed. Babel is your personal architectural bridge between languages, living right at your fingertips.
What Babel does that nothing else does
Unlike tools that translate what you read, Babel translates what you write. Get instant, inline translations in 23 languages in any input field.
Who Babel is for
Support agents, digital nomads, and remote workers who need to write in multiple languages instantly without leaving their active text box.

Can you translate and apply a tone preset in one keystroke, or do those require separate actions?
LemaMaker
Hi Owen! Yes, absolutely. You can handle both the translation and the tone adjustment in a single workflow. While the core shortcut instantly translates your text into your target language, you can quickly cycle through different tone presets (or toggle languages and styles) right on the fly using your custom-configured hotkeys in the extension settings all without ever leaving your input field or needing separate copy-pasting steps.

Can Babel keep names, links, and other formatting intact when it translates or changes the tone of a message?
LemaMaker
Hi Carmen Great question! Yes, absolutely -100%. │ Unlike traditional translators that often mangle links and translate usernames, Babel uses a dedicated two-tier protection system: 1. Deterministic Token Shield: URLs, @mentions, and #hashtags are automatically shielded before translation and restored character-for-character afterwards. The AI literally cannot alter or corrupt them. 2. Context-Aware Formatting: Proper names, Markdown formatting (bold, code blocks, bullet points), and emojis are intelligently preserved in their exact original structure. You can safely translate Slack/Telegram messages, code-mixed text, or emails without wasting a single second re-formatting!

Which browsers does the Babel extension support, and can I customize the keystroke used to translate text?
LemaMaker
Hi Ravi! Thanks for your interest! 👋 Regarding browsers: Babel works smoothly across Chromium-based browsers (like Google Chrome, Brave, and Arc). For Microsoft Edge and Opera, the extension is currently under review for official listing in their respective stores, but the core Chromium engine is fully supported. As for the keystrokes -yes, absolutely! The default shortcut for instant translation is Alt+T, but you can easily customize all hotkeys (including switching languages and styles) right inside your browser’s extension shortcuts settings to fit your exact workflow.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

How does Babel protect the text you type, and is it sent to a server for translation?
LemaMaker
Hi Lena! Great question. To clarify how we protect your text: we don't use any intermediate servers or databases. Your text is sent directly to the AI provider via a secure API connection, and these enterprise providers are bound by strict agreements that prohibit them from reading or using your data for training. Furthermore, Babel is designed from the ground up for absolute privacy. We don't collect personal data- no registration, no emails. The extension just uses an anonymous, randomly generated internal ID that resets completely if you reinstall it. Also, for users who want ultimate control, we are currently developing an update that will allow you to configure your own custom APIs and endpoints. Hope this gives you peace of mind!

Does Babel translate text in rich text editors and chat boxes, or only standard browser input fields?
LemaMaker
Hi Ines! Yes, Babel is engineered to work seamlessly in most rich text editors and dynamic chat boxes (like web emails, CRMs, and social media messengers). Just keep in mind that since Babel is a browser extension, it works exclusively inside your web browser. As long as you're using the web versions of these apps, it transforms the text directly where your cursor is active or any text you highlight. Just select the text, hit the shortcut, and it translates right in place! It won't operate inside standalone desktop applications, though.
