Playable delivers the optimal video format (HEVC, H.265, WEBM, MP4, APNG, WEBP, or GIF) upon open. Playable’s mission is to optimize video marketing, using artificial intelligence and our unique dataset of what video content works best. The company was founded in 2016 with the purchase of the foundation patents for adding video content to email. We started by building our Video Email product that allows any marketer to add any video to their email campaigns. We love email because it already generates the highest return-on-investment for marketers, compared to other digital marketing channels.

    "Terrible service"

    Posted 2026-02-02

Pros: I liked how easy it was to upload a video and include in my newsletter. It was a pretty slick, unique technology in 2023 when I found it.

Cons: Originally, I opted for an Essentials plan and paid for it. Then they introduced a Free plan and did away with the Essentials plan, but it was dumb because you got everything in the free plan, but better than what was listed in the Essentials plan. Well, then they did away with the free plan. I didn't have enough subscribers to want to pay $100/month - the number of views I would have gotten just didn't add up. But, when I opted for the Free plan, it was a FREE plan, not a Free trial. And you got a certain number of plays and then you had to pay per play; included a watermark, blah blah blah.
Then they just ENDED IT and were like: you can pay $100/month, or get out.

Overall: Terrible support all the way around. The growing pains of a platform trying to figure out how to effectively monetize left smaller clients on a growth trajectory - out in the cold and in such an ugly way that I'll try 100 other apps now that I have a 20k+ list before I'd ever go back.
