About

KeePass is a free open source password manager, which helps you to manage your passwords in a secure way. You can store all your passwords in one database, which is locked with a master key. So you only have to remember one single master key to unlock the whole database. Database files are encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES-256, ChaCha20 and Twofish). KeePass can be downloaded for free from SourceForge.

About

RoboForm securely stores all of your passwords and logs you in with a single click (or tap). Save time entering personal and billing information with AutoFill for long web forms. RoboForm's random password generator will create a strong and unique password for each site. Say goodbye to using weak or duplicate passwords for everything. Securely share Login information with other RoboForm users. Simply enter the recipient’s email and share away. To protect your data, RoboForm uses AES-256 bit encryption with PBKDF2 SHA-256. Support for two factor authentication (2FA) to access your account. Create your RoboForm account by entering your email address and setting a Master Password. The Master Password secures your data. It is the one password you'll need to remember. Add your passwords manually or import from your browser, a CSV, or even another password management product. RoboForm saves new passwords automatically as you log in to your online accounts.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I've been using KeePass what seems like forever--at least 20 years. It just works. I have never had a problem with it. I've never used another password program, so I can't compare.
  • It is simple to use. It has all the tools needed. I have been using it for at least 10 years. It has many for features than I use.

Cons

  • I'd like to have a few more fields which I could name and which could hold stuff I could have autotyped. For example, If I need to enter my credit card number, it would be nice to have a field named Card Number that I could click to have that number inserted. Now I store the number in notes so I can copy and paste it
  • It is often impossible to update KeePass. The only way to get it to update is to contact Support.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The biggest benefit of this tool is it works on every latest platform, web-based, desktop and mobile. Gives simultaneous access to its storage from multiple devices. Auto encrypts the data stored in its platform. Cost-effective premium plans. The user interface is very appealing.
  • Very good program to keep all my accounts organized and sync between different devices. Security seems good.

Cons

  • Never faced any major problems. No cons to share.
  • The mobile application could be easier to use and interface better with Chrome.
