Hello! First of all, I consider zkanji one of the most powerful tools for Japanese learners out there and it's able to do almost everything I ask of it. But the example sentences corpus (an external feature, I know) is very useful but it has significant limits.
I'm not really looking to edit the corpus itself (I have no idea how I would go about it) but if you think it would be possible at some point, I'd like to be able to assign my own example sentences to words in my word groups - kind of like adding example words to kanji. It wouldn't have to be fancy really. You could make a new option in the word editor to add notes to a word where a user could write anything they want ranging from the word's collocations to custom example sentences. Granted, I don't know how difficult would such a thing be to develop but I believe many other users would find that useful.

Hi! Implementing what you ask for is probably very easy, the difficult part is making a usable user interface for it. For example how would you know that you added a note to some word or not? (Showing in the dictionary listing or in word groups maybe) Do you think you would require a separation of added sentences and other notes? Do you want to show it when studying in tests? There are many things to consider.
(Please note that I'm currently completely rewriting zkanji and I don't know how long it'll take. Could be a few months more. No new features will be implemented before that's done.)

Hi again! I understand what you're getting at and I admit I haven't thought about that much. As for the example sentences, I think it would be ideal if it used the same interface as the corpus sentences and you could switch between the corpus' and your own database. I'm not sure how difficult that would be and that's why I thought of introducing a note-taking system (I'd be more than satisfied with only this). I think the most obvious way to know what words have an added note would be some kind of symbol (or colorcoding maybe) - in word groups and/or the dictionary listing. You could then access the note for example by right-clicking on the word if there was a "show notes" option (or even better access it with a keyboard shortcut). I'd be more than happy if it had the form of a notepad file where I could write anything I wanted or something along the same lines. I can't really think of anything more elegant right now.
I don't think it's necessary for it to show during tests but thinking about it now it could be neat if you could also access the note when you answer the test question in order to revise how the words is actually used.
I'd lived without this feature until now and I can go on living without it so don't worry, I'm not trying to pressure you into anything while you have other things to do - I don't plan to drop Japanese any time soon and zkanji is great as it is.
