I have downloaded the mac installer jar, run it, and then attempted to run the installed application from /Applications/ dir. This prompts me to install Rosetta, as it somehow thinks that it is executing an intel native binary.
When I download the "plain" zip, I have no problem running it without a prompt to install Rosetta.
I think the issue is that the layout of the installed package is not what apple is expecting, and causes it to find or think it has found an intel executable.

Sorry, I can't reproduce your problem on my MacBook Pro. Here are some things you may check:
- Make sure at least Java JDK 17 is installed on your Mac. Possible downloads are
https://javaalmanac.io/jdk/download/#product=temurin&version=17&type=all&platform=macos-x64
or
https://javaalmanac.io/jdk/download/#product=temurin&version=17&type=all&platform=macos-arm64
depending from your Mac.
- Make sure to use SQuirreL's Mac-Installer jar. The one for the latest snapshot can be found here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/squirrel-sql/files/3-snapshots/snapshot-20260118_2019/squirrel-sql-snapshot-20260118_2019-MACOSX-install.jar/download

For me double clicking this installer jar installed SQuirreL without any problem.
