Hi Kenneth, I will fix this. Can you add Sky Simulator 2.jpg? It probably depend on your font scaling. Cheers, Han
Hi there, is there a way to fix the overlapping of text in the Image Source and Camera screens. Sky Simulator_1 shows both "Download from" being partly covered up with the select boxes. Sky Simulator 2 show the Camera screen text being overlapped in three places. (1) "Select in your imaging program "Camera Sky Simulator...." is having the lower half of the text being cut off. (2) The last sentence of "Avoid camera binning for speed. The binning is..." is being cut off by the "Create a dynamic driver...

Yes let me know if it works for you. Feedback helps . Cheers, Han
Looks there it is... let you know how this goes...
Hi Han, thanks - will try that! Let you know the result. If this works it would be super cool - guess that would be the only methode to complete test an OnStep mount in our labs, Regards Joerg

I have added a button to select the so called ASCOM chooser. Follow the instructions to make the guide camera visible in PHD2: https://sourceforge.net/projects/sky-simulator/files/program/windows_installer/Sky%20Simulator%20v3.0.1.exe/download Tell me if this works for you. Han
It looks like the standard ASCOM camera chooser is not available in either Nina or PHD2. For Nina it is not a problem since it can connect to ALPACA device directly. It should work like attached. Let me see if I can invoke the ASCOM chooser in the simulator Han
Yes in PHD2 you can connect to the guide camera. Since both cameras are now ALPACA you will need probably ASCOM 7.0 and enable discovery in the ASCOM menu. Maybe it is required to first create a bridge by selecting the guide camera in Nina, disconnect and then select it in PHD2. See attached.
Love this! Really cool, I think its perfect if you want - like me - get into OnStep an build your own mount. Just wondering. Any idea /way to connect a guide scope? When I'm in Nina I see there is a second camera even named soemthing with guide. However I can not see that cam in Phd2, Keep up your good work. Regards Joerg

Hi Robert, Good it works. I now remember I had three days ago some problems with Nina and Alpaca. Nina was complaining it could not set a guide parameter. This was fixed and then I was very busy with other modifications. Note you have also a guide camera simulated indentical to main camera.. Polar alignment simulation will work in next version. If you have an other bug/problem, please report it. Cheers, Han
Here are my results testing the new version: * Uninstalled previous version * Installed version RC4 * Rebooted PC * Loaded Sky Simulator * Set Image source to Artificiel * Set focal length, pixel size and sensor dimensions to 3000x3000 * Started simulation * Loaded NINA. * NINA freezed when trying to connect to camera Shutdown NINA and Sky Simulator Deleted sky_simulator.cfg Reloaded Sky Simulator Set camera parameters Started simulation Loaded NINA and connected to camera OK.Still get the same message...
Tell me if it works for you.
Ok Thanks. I'll give it a try.
I'm just busy with several complicated modifications and maybe your error is just corrected. Try this version which works here with Nina: http://www.hnsky.org/Sky%20Simulator%20v3.0.0RC4x.exe I will release it officially in one day maybe.

I do get this message from NINA though
I closed all the programs, rebooted the PC and it seems to be working now! No idea why. I had previously reloaded sky simulator and NINA several times without success. Sounds like a NINA issue to me. The version I'm using is 3.1.1.9001. Thanks very much for your help. I'll let you know if the problem occurs again.
It also requires one of the newer Nina versions. I just dumped the classic ASCOM Com camera driver in favor of Alpaca camera. What version of Nina are you using?
Did you select this camera?:
Hi Han, These are the steps that I performed: - Load Sky Simulator. - Set image source to Skyview or Artificiel on the Image Source tab. - Set dimensions to 3000x3000 in the camera tab. - Start the simulation. - Load Nina - Connect Nina to the camera simulator. That is when NINA freezes while trying to connect the camera. Robert
Hi Robert, You should only change dimensions when the camera is disconnected. Follow this sequence: 1) Set the camera at 3000x3000 2) Start simulation 3) Connect camera in Nina. So do not change the camera dimension before Nina has disconnected the equipment. I the mount is constant drifting tell me. I noted that Nina is setting a custom RA rate (for polar alignment) which is currently not good implemented in the sky simulator. I hope to fix that tonight.
That solved the problem of editing the sensor dimensions but if I set them to 3000x3000 pixels which corresponds to my camera, NINA hangs when trying to connect the camera to the simulator. It's not possible to reset the dimsions back to their original values , and the only way I can get things to work again is to delete the sky_simulator.cfg file in ...\ApppData\Local\sky_simulator\ so that everything gets reset to the default values. Robert
Thanks Han! That was indeed the problem. Robert Le 03/09/2024 à 11:29, han.k a écrit : Aha that is because you selected as image source ESO for the DSS images. These images are fixed 1.7"/pixel. So you can only define the height in arcmin. The rest is then already fixed. The selection Skyview is a more flexible but I would suggest to start with selection artificial images in the image source tab. That will update faster since no images need to be downloaded. Hi Han, The dimension fields are grayed out. If I click on the calculator, I can enter the focal length (1000mm) and pixel size (3.76um). It then requests the image height but not the image width. My camera has an image height of 3000 pixels and an image width of 3000 pixels
Hi Robert, In the camera tab you can specify the dimensions in pixels. If you know the camera height in arcmin you can specify that directly. If not just click on the small calculator character and enter your focal length and pixel size in mircometer. Does that works for you? Han
Ok, but how do I configure the camera sensor size? Robert
Ho Robert, No need to setup the camera simulator. Just connect it as an Alpaca camera and if required configure it in the simulator. Han
Hi, I can connect and use the "Camera Sky Simulator for ALPACA" with NINA but when I click on the settings icon (cogs), a web page is displayed as attached. Thanks
