With this command:

echo abcde | mcrypt -q -k xyz | mcrypt -dq -k xyz

Mcrypt v.0.9.9 against libmcrypt 2.5.8
Tested with Sabayon 9 x86, funtoo and cygwin. With cygwin doesn't crash but outputs different data.

It works on my computer, OSX 10.10:

$ mcrypt --version
Mcrypt v.0.9.9 (i386-apple-darwin14.0.0)
Linked against libmcrypt v.2.5.8
