Documentation

This page should contain everything you would want to know about Leer Copy. If it does not feel free to contact me with any additional questions (or post a discussion)!

Capturing Screenshots with Leer Copy

Once you start the app, screen captures are as easy as left clicking and dragging the mouse to your desired location. If you want to capture more or less than the current selection you have three options: reclick and drag to a different location, use the arrow keys to resize your selection in either direction, or clear the selection and start over! Once your selection needs to be finalized left click or use the key shortcuts to copy, edit, view, and/or save. Example of Leer Selection

Key Shortcuts

The following key shorcuts can be utilized to speed up and improve your Leer Copy experience. While using Leer Copy you can find these shorcuts in the top right of the window:
Hotkey - Starts the application.
E - Edit Leer with your default editor (Ex: Paint). This will cause app to exit.
S - Save Leer to a PNG file. The app will not exit upon saving allowing multiple saves within same screen.
A - Selects the entire screen from upper left to bottom right corners.
C - Copy Leer to the clipboard. The app will not exit due to this shortcut.
V - View the Leer in a preview window. The preview creates a white border around the outside of your
capture so it is easier to discern where your edges are located. Just hit the V key again or the escape key to
close the preview window.
Z - Clear the current Leer.
R - Begin a new Leer. Window will minimize, scroll to desired location, and reopen app from taskbar.
T - Turn the tips displayed in the top right on or off.
F - Open the settings (features) window.
Q - Exit the application.
The Arrow Keys can also be used to resize your Leer without reselecting.
--> Pressing Ctrl + Arrow Keys will reverse direction Leer is resized
--> Pressing Shift + Arrow Keys will increase the speed of the resizing

Settings/Customization

You can access the setting from the main form of Leer Copy via the F key or the right click context menu. Within the settings you can do things such as change colors, transparency, and border on/off as well as starting a new Leer of exiting the application. The settings window can be resized to your liking and the size will be saved.
UPDATE: In V2.0 you can now customize your key shortcuts to whatever is most comfortable for you!!

Miscellaneous

You can check out Window's output from their Windows App Certification Kit HERE to get more comfortable with downloading a not officially signed/certified MSI (I completely understand your hesitation if you have it). The 'failure' and one of the 'warnings' in the report is not correct as it does write that registry value to a valid location. I am currently trying work through that to figure out what's going on. The other 'warnings' are not critical. Check out my blog post for more information on why I haven't certified Leer Copy.
