sometimes the state open but most times the state
unclear. Googling around I found many people who seem
to have the same problem. I checked my router settings
(port forwarding) again and again: they are correct.
Finally I think I found the reason: ed2k_gui just shows
wrong values. At the top, right to the globe, it shows
a small number of users (50 - 300) and the state shows
unclear. But when entering the command !g to get the
actual values fom the core I see Overnet: (open) and
Users 1000000. These values are reasonable.

Here is my setup:

router: 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4
edonkeyclc_1.3.0_i386

client: 2.6.15-1.1831_FC4
ed2k-gtk-gui-0.6.4

as_word_in_string is broken

Simply put, the function in ed2k_gui/filter.c does not
work properly. The attached patch fixes it (replacing
it with a much more efficient algorithm in the
process). I have tested this patch against version 0.6.4.

blacklist hash table is too slow

The hash table used to hold the blacklist in
ed2k_gui/backlist.c is fixed at 16 buckets. This means
that each hit returned from a search will search, on
average, 1/16th of all of the blacklist items.

Simply increasing this to a suitably huge number is a
very quick and easy bandaid to reduce this problem.
Each entry only takes up 4 bytes of fixed space on
32-bit systems, so even increasing it to 16384 entries
still only uses up 64kB of RAM.

Also, when adding items to the blacklist, the function
g_slist_append is used to add items to each chain.
This function will walk all the way down the chain to
the end in order to find the last item each time.
Simply changing this to g_slist_prepend will eliminate
this inefficiency, since prepending items to a list is
a constant time operation.

A more comprehensive fix might be to switch to using
the glib hash table which presumably uses a
dynamically-sized table to eliminate both these problems.

filters with asterisk work opposite to documentation

The documentation states:

If a line starts with a '*' (asterisk), the GUI will
filter out all search results which contain the
specified phrase as a whole word. If the line does not
start with an asterisk, the GUI will filter out all
results that contain the given substring in their filename.

However, the actual operation of the GUI (confirmed by
reading the code) is the exact opposite to this: If a
line does not start with an asterisk, the GUI filters
out search results containing the phrase as a whole word.

See filter.c line 145, version 0.6.4

edonkeyclc1.1 doesnt listens admin port

hi

i ve installed the versions below on my win Xp computer
eDonkeyClc1.1.exe
ed2k-gtk-gui-0.6.4-installer.exe

then i started the clc through the command prompt by
typing C:\eDonkey\eDonkeyclc -

then i change the password. the result of vo command is
here:
> vo
Name: peace
Max Download Speed: 0.00
Max Upload Speed: 0.00
Line Speed Down: 0.00
TCP Port: 4662
UDP Port: 6003
Admin Port: 4663
Admin Name: ali
Admin Pass: can
Verbose: 0
MaxConnections: 45
ScreenLines: 24
Allow Private Messages: 0
Allow Viewing of Files: 0

then i started the ed2k_gui.exe and trien to connect to
the core with my name and pass ali can ...
on the status window it was saying
"cannot establigh GUI-Core Connection"

then i started another command promt and type netstat
and see that port 4662 is listening but there is no
port 4663

what could be the reason for it ?

thanks

auto-spawn and auto-connect to core doesn't work

Ola,

Using version 0.6.4 and edonkeyclc-1.3.0-0. I don't
know if using Overnet or eDonkey, I don't see where to
choose that.

I have checked GUI general options:
auto-spawn and
auto-connect to core
but still on every startup I'm asked if it should start
core and if it should connect to local/remote core.

Please fix this and let me know if I should provide
other details.
