January 1st--New Years Day---CDP Theme Day

CDP theme for the first day of 2019 happens to be "Best or Favorite Photo of the Year".
I couldn't decide---I think I have taken some terrific shots but I do like this one.  The Butterflies were very friendly this past Summer

Bird flyway

On the ranch is a thermal pond.  It never freezes over and many different birds migrate there.  Today is the Goose class or is it Geese class

Thankful

My dog Bingo became ill a few days ago and on Christmas Eve morning just did not want to get up.  We took him to the vet immediately but to no avail.    He was ready to go play with all the pups that went before him.  We will meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.

I am thankful that we got to spend 11 1/2 years as best friends.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

Sky Watch Friday

Today we had some different weather.  Very mild out--almost Springlike but huge winds.  We had an appointment in Mount Vernon but the whole town was shut down as was Burlington too.  Stores closed--traffic lights not working--so we go back home.  I took this pic of the sky as we headed south on I-5.  Our power was still on but all around us OUT.
All is well now---tomorrow's weather much calmer and sunny---again Springlike for the Winter Solstice

Snow Geese

Snow Geese winter over in Puget sound mostly Skagit County on Fir Island.   Most of the birds here come from Wrangle Island in Siberia.  First sighting here are in October and gone by April.  Huge flocks sometimes in the 90, 000s or more.  Very noisy in the air and constantly moving on land.  Like they were on a slow moving conveyor belt.   And in case you are wondering they do jettison their load before flying.

Thankful

I am thankful for so many things---First off I am thankful I wake up every morning.

I am thankful I am able to follow this path and go on hikes

I am thankful to find a waterfall like this
I am thankful to find a place like this on the banks of the Nooksack River to eat my lunch
I am thankful to find a little lake and parklike surrounding area
I am thankful we still have big trees

Walla Walla

Last month we went to Walla Walla here in Eastern Washington and visited the Fort Walla Walla Museum.  Very neat.  Several outdoor displays and 4 huge indoor display halls.
An interesting one was about the Prison in Walla Walla.  Yes that is two words.  Everyone like the town so much they named it twice.
So the prison was built  132 years ago and is the largest and oldest in the state.  All the real hardened criminals go there.
This entrance was erected early in the 1900s or late 1800s and is still beautiful.

One of the exhibits was a prison room with 2 cells
And I got shoved in one and my daughter locked it and pushed an escape button and sirens went off and the loud speaker blared about a prison break and everyone laughed---right--haha

 I found this interesting
Some cell made items to use as a "get out of jail card".
Some items used by the guards---and more escape stuff
Ols time picture of a guard tower
