Snow Geese a flying
It is amazing to be around these Snow Geese. they are very noisy even on the ground but when they fly each and every one of them squawk. exhilarating!
90 thousand to 100 thousand winter here in the Skagit and Stillaguamish Valleys. They are worth the trip here.
And believe it or not they don't poop (I have to say this because nobody believes me) when they fly---they just fertilize the farmers fields. LOL!!!

Memorial Barn
Hmmmmmm.....I can't seem to get these in order. It seems blogger changed the way pics are posted.
anyway....
Tricia (of Barn Charm--http://bluffareadaily.blogspot.com/) asked about the RIP on the flooded barn---well, this barn in a field south of Stanwood has for years been used as a memorial to town teens taken too early. Mostly car accidents and other tragedies. It is a place for the young adults to come together and say goodbye to a friend or classmate.

Birds and barn for Barn Charm
I cut across the Stilly Valley to go into town and to check on the birds. I always try to get some shots of the Trumpeter Swans as they fly over. I never get a good shot. but I like this one with the barn as a background. Enlarge it if you like. MB

Wet and wild--birds love it!
We have been have heavy rains the last few days and with the warmer weather and snow melt in the mountains we did have some flooding in the Stilly Valley of Stanwood. The waters are receding now and the birds are out in numbers enjoying finding goodies in the mud.
Today is Wild bird Wednesday and to view some beautiful birds please visit:

Stanwood Floods!!!
We have had record rains and that of course makes the rivers overflow their banks. the first picture shows the Full Stillaguamish river in Stanwood moving fast. I took that one yesterday.. the next pictures are of the Stilly Valley which is all river now. I took all but the first one this morning. the rivers all around here have crested and should be going down--slowly. I wish the pics were better but I couldn't get any closer. All roads were closed. I posted some other pictures but they seemed to have disappeared--somewhere.
I am going to add this barn one to Tricia's barn blog. http://bluffareadaily.blogspot.com/

I went to a party
When Princess D. and I worked in a Nursury we learned how to make wreaths. One of our duties was to teach classes on wreath making and to make wreaths for the company to sell. We really enjoyed do ing both. D and her Mother purchased a wreath making machine and for two weeks before Christmas they host a party at their house and anyone can come to make a wreath. When I went there today some of her neighbors were there making wreaths. The first picture is a finished wreath and the second the same wreath half made. The red berries are from my Washington Hawthorn. It takes lots of different kinds of greens and things to make a wreath.
Princess D bakes all kinds of Cakes, pies, cookies, yummy breads and even soups. It was fun.

A Touch of blue.....
I took this picture on Friday while out for a ride trying to climb out of my Grumpy Gulch as Chuck at http://almostoneaday.blogspot.com/ so aptly put it. All of a sudden the sky broke and blue and the sun appeared and this lovely scene appeared. I don't think it is real. This is on the road between Bayview and Edison by the Samish River around 2:45PM. rather nice. You could click on the image to enjoy it more. MBSaturday, December 11, 2010
