This chart is jaw-dropping. It shows the percentage of government revenue that goes out to interest (in other words, for absolutely no government services or product at all: just to pay off those who loaned money in the past). The shamelessly irresponsible U.S. government is shelling out well more than ten cents of every dollar to pay out interest, edged out only by Mexico. How’s that for a model of fiscal responsibility?

A New Kind of Democracy

As a young person, I was provided plenty of information that I suppose would be characterized as received truth. I was informed that, as our Declaration of Independence cited, all men are created equal. I believed that. I was told that democracy, which meant one person=one vote, was the best form of government. I believed that.

I believed a lot of stuff as a kid. These days? Not so much.
