Iris
Iris’s job is to keep watch on the outside world the company’s projects depend on, and check facts when asked.
On this page
What Iris does
- What changed at the vendors and upstream projects the company depends on: releases, deprecations, status and pricing
- Watches and fact checks, created or changed only when a person asks
- Watches proposed for the vendors the company’s projects useStudio
- A register of the vendors and subprocessors the company actually uses, with what is on file for eachStudio
What you can ask
You ask Grant, and he brings in Iris for questions like these.
- “What changed at our vendors this week?”
- “Watch Stripe’s API changelog for us.”
- “Is this claim about our cloud provider still true?”
- “Draft our subprocessor list update.”Studio
What you get
Stripe says API version 2023-10-16 stops getting updates in 90 days, and your checkout project uses it. No watch covers OpenAI’s status page yet. Want me to add one?
What Iris reads
- World State changes
When Iris works
When you ask Grant.
What Iris may do
Runs fact checks, and creates or changes a watch only when you ask. Changes nothing outside Since.
What Iris never does
- Create or change a watch nobody asked for
- Call unknown unchanged
- Say a vendor holds a SOC 2 report or signed a DPA unless a document says so
- Publish the subprocessor list or send the customer notice
- Treat an answer given in chat as kept for the next register (answers belong in Documents)
