Saloni Kaur, co-host at ragTech, just dropped a video with a candid confession that a lot of us can relate to. She opened up about feeling anxious from the relentless AI hype in the media. Not just for herself, but for her peers too. For context, Saloni is an experienced Software Developer and one of the Directors of Women Devs SG someone who genuinely cares about the people around her. The anxiety stems from a very real frustration. The pressure to "learn AI" without any clear guidance on what that actually means for our day-to-day work. We all sense that change is coming, but nobody seems to know what it truly looks like. Layoffs in tech are being blamed on AI, courses are popping up everywhere, and by the time you finish one, it's already outdated. In the video, Saloni shares her advice on navigating this uncertainty. Her core message is to double down on your craft. As a Software Developer, that means deeply understanding your systems and domains so you can spot when an AI Coding Agent goes wrong and course-correct it. As a marketer, it means knowing your audience well enough to recognize what actually resonates, AI-generated or not. For this to happen, we must all be actively exploring ways to utilize AI that keep us in demand and make us 10x more effective in what we do. Saloni herself has been doing exactly this, finding that balance between staying sharp in her craft while thoughtfully weaving AI into her workflow. We'd love to hear your thoughts on how you're handling the media's AI push, and whether mastering your craft is shaping the way you approach it. We’re incredibly grateful to share that ragTech has won Best Podcast Award at the Youth Creator Awards 2026, held tonight at *SCAPE SG When we started ragTech, the goal was simple: make tech conversations less intimidating and more accessible for everyone. From AI to careers in tech, we wanted to create a space where curiosity is welcomed and no question feels too basic. This recognition means a lot to us, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the people who supported us along the way. A huge thank you to our mentors and workshop speakers who generously shared their knowledge and experiences with us. Your guidance has shaped how we think about tech, storytelling, and community. Special thanks as well to My Secret Hacks, Yan Wei, Amirul Haquim , and Ian Jeevan Prasad Arumugam for your time, support, and insights. Your encouragement and advice played a meaningful role in helping ragTech grow. And of course, thank you to everyone who has listened to the podcast, attended our workshops, or supported our content. This award belongs to the whole community that believes tech should be something everyone can understand and participate in. Here’s to continuing the conversation and making tech simpler, one episode at a time. #youthcreatorawards2026 — ragTech is a podcast by Natasha Ann Lum, Saloni Kaur and Victoria Lo that simplifies tech for everyday people. If you’re curious about tech but don’t know where to start, we’d love to have you join the conversation. Something worth sitting with if you're building an AI product. Every feature your users love was built on someone else's model. That's not a bad starting point. But it's a dangerous ending point. The companies that will matter in five years aren't the ones who found the best way to call an API. They're the ones who used AI to get close to a customer problem, then built something irreplaceable around it. The model is a starting gun, not a finish line. We talked about this at length on this week's ragTech episode. Why AI wrappers have a ceiling, what the alternatives actually look like, and some honest examples of both. We might have... made a mistake... we created a script to help create these carousel snippets from our tech podcast episodes... But it seems our cohost left an easter egg in the default video link used in our example.json...and then rickrolled herself when she forgot to replace the default video link lol for our latest episode on AI wrappers haha. Nevertheless we know all of you are people of culture and might enjoy it anyway so here we go 😅 Here's to embracing mistakes hahaha Link to YouTube episode: https://lnkd.in/gWZUWnci Link to Spotify and Others: https://lnkd.in/gQRd3F4Z

Most AI companies don't actually own their AI models. They're wrappers: thin application layers built on top of models like GPT-4, Gemini, or Claude. They don't train the models. They don't control the pricing. And their biggest differentiator is a well-crafted prompt! We just released a new episode on: - What AI wrappers actually are and how they work - Why prompt engineering and subject matter expertise are the real value adds - The sustainability risks of building on someone else's model - A cautionary tale of a company that secretly harvested user data to build its own model - Why regulations haven't caught up yet - Whether you're a founder building in this space, an investor evaluating AI startups, or a consumer using these tools daily, this one's worth a watch! Can't find (or afford) a full-time CTO? There's another option: Fractional CTOs. Here's how it works: A fractional CTO advises multiple startups at once — from seed stage all the way to Series B, C, D. Think of it like a lawyer on retainer. You only call them when something happens. For seed-stage startups, they help with: 🔹 Technical strategy 🔹 Hiring developers 🔹 Choosing the right tech stack Once the groundwork is set? "Okay, bye-bye." Until the next round: "We need to refactor. What should we do?" It's essentially a temporary CTO — solving immediate technical problems while you search for someone truly invested in the long-term vision. Perfect for: → Non-technical founders who need guidance → Early-stage startups watching their burn rate → Companies between technical leadership transitions 🎧 More on this in Episode 47: https://lnkd.in/gAWahbRX Would you consider hiring a fractional CTO? 👇 --- ragTech is a podcast by Natasha Ann Lum Saloni Kaur and Victoria Lo where real people talk about real life in tech.
