Studying law at the University of Nottingham, Nursyahindah's family felt the weight of tuition fees converted from SGD to GBP — at times, instalments went overdue as they stretched to keep up. An LBKM bursary eased that pressure directly, keeping her fees on track and easing the burden on her family. She's now working towards her LLB (Hons), with her sights set on serving the Muslim community and other marginalised groups through law. "Their support relieved a pressure my family carried together." Her story is part of LBKM's Digital Procession this season: a series honouring the students and professionals shaped by community support. Every donation writes the next one. Financially supporting students in their education journey and assisting them to achieve academic excellence.
About us
LBKM has come a long way since its inception, evolving from a small but relentless bursary-disbursing organization into a renowned bursary institution and a pillar of the Malay and Muslim community. The genesis of this institution may be traced to the vision of one man, Mr Syed Ali Redha Alsagoff. LBKM has continued to receive overwhelming support from the Malay/Muslim community, with more than 70 local Malay and Muslim organizations enlisting as members, LBKM has been and will continue to be a key player in the community by providing much-needed financial assistance to students, to enable them to pursue their dreams and ambition. As the years fly by, we continue to strive to remain a relevant beacon of light in the community without compromising on the building blocks, and the virtues of LBKM our founding fathers envisioned.

Before completing her Master's at NTU, Siti Saidah made a difficult call: give up her income to convert her degree to full-time study, uncertain how she'd manage the higher tuition that came with it. With the support of an LBKM bursary, funded by Mdm Bee Bee Noor Jahan — she found the space to focus fully on her studies. She went on to graduate as NTU Class Champion for her cohort, and now works as an educator at the Science Centre, designing hands-on learning experiences for young children. "Their support gave me more than money, it gave me hope I wasn't carrying the journey alone." Her story is part of LBKM's Digital Procession this season: a series honouring the students and professionals shaped by community support. Every donation writes the next one. A year after receiving the LBKM Madrasah Award (Pre-University Category), Saqina Qamilia is now in her first year of a double degree in Law and Sharia at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), with a clear focus on family and Sharia law and a commitment to protecting the rights of women and children. Her nomination reflected years of sustained leadership: Assistant Head Prefect, a member of her school's Student Council, and three seasons on its Bahas debate team, culminating in a national finals appearance in 2024. As we congratulate this year's LBKM Madrasah Awards recipients, we're proud to revisit the journey of past awardees like Saqina, a reminder of the impact consistent leadership and community values can have well beyond the school years. #LBKMMadrasahAwards

The 10th LBKM Madrasah Awards 2026 marked a meaningful milestone in our continued efforts to recognise and celebrate madrasah students who demonstrate excellence, discipline, character and leadership. More than an awards ceremony, the evening was a reflection of the collective support surrounding each student — from their families and educators, to donors and community partners who continue to believe in their potential. To every nominee and award winner, congratulations. Your journey is a reminder that achievement is not only measured by results, but also by perseverance, values and the purpose you carry forward. LBKM extends our heartfelt appreciation to every recipient, family, educator, donor and partner who has been part of this decade-long journey. As we mark 10 years of the Madrasah Awards, we look forward to continuing our commitment in uplifting madrasah students and supporting future generations.

At the 10th Madrasah Awards, LBKM announced the LBKM Madrasah Student Assistance Grant — a continued commitment to supporting every madrasah, and every student within it. Through this grant, each madrasah will receive $15,000 per year for the next 3 years to support areas such as student development, enrichment, digitalisation and learning environments. Beyond supporting individual student needs, this initiative aims to strengthen the wider madrasah ecosystem by investing in programmes and infrastructure that benefit students meaningfully. Made possible through the generosity of our donors, the grant reflects LBKM’s ongoing role in uplifting madrasah education and supporting institutions that nurture future generations. #LBKM #MadrasahAwards2026

In 2023, Haninah Rehan was awarded the LBKM Madrasah Award under the Pre-University Category. For Haninah, the award was not defined by academics alone. During her interview with the panel, the conversation centred on her contributions beyond the classroom — from Arabic and Malay debate competitions, to student leadership, and her involvement in organising a school trip to Turkey through fundraising efforts. Today, Haninah is pursuing Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Jordan, where she continues to grow through leadership and service as part of the Singaporean students’ community there. Her journey reflects the spirit of the LBKM Madrasah Awards: recognising students who carry knowledge with purpose, responsibility, and a desire to contribute meaningfully to society. As we look towards the LBKM Madrasah Awards 2026, we celebrate past recipients like Haninah, whose stories continue to inspire current and future madrasah students. This year’s nominees will be revealed soon.

As LBKM prepares for the 10th Madrasah Awards in 2026, we're honouring the students who have earned this recognition since 2017. Across PSLE, O-Level and Pre-University levels, these young achievers represent the very best of Singapore's madrasah community, proof of what's possible when academic ambition is grounded in strong values. Behind every name is a story of discipline, family, faith and the educators who believed in them. We're proud to have played a part in their journey, and prouder still to see where it has taken them. To all our past recipients: thank you for inspiring the cohorts that follow. 🌙 Who will join this roll of honour in 2026? The next chapter is just beginning. #LBKM #MadrasahAwards

For ten years, the LBKM Madrasah Awards has asked a harder question than "who scored the highest?" It asks: who carries knowledge, character, and leadership beyond the classroom? Three recipients are recognised annually — one each at PSLE, O-Level, and Pre-University level, nominated by their madrasah and assessed by a dedicated selection panel. As we enter the 10th edition in 2026, we celebrate a generation of madrasah students who prove that excellence is never one-dimensional. Know someone who has received the LBKM Madrasah Awards? Tag them in the comments. #LBKMMadrasahAwards

There's a version of Salifian Sulaiman's story that never happens. The one where the doubt wins. Where the absence of a blueprint becomes a reason to stop. Where "nobody in my family has done this" becomes a ceiling instead of a starting point. But Salifian held onto something harder to measure than grades or opportunities: "The world will belittle you. But the job of being confident is only yourself — no one can be confident for you." NUS. Waseda. Cambridge. And today — a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford. LBKM supported him along the way. But the belief? That was always his. That's the kind of student LBKM exists to find, support, and walk alongside. #LBKMScholar #LBKMFeature
