Around 70% of geoscience data has a spatial component. So even small positioning errors can lead to inefficiencies, rework and reduced confidence in decision-making.   Whether it's planning a cable route, monitoring offshore infrastructure or managing survey data, organisations rely on accurate positioning information to understand where assets, observations and operations are taking place. That makes geodesy, the science of measuring and positioning on the Earth, a critical foundation for trusted data.   One of the key topics discussed at the 14th IOGP Geomatics Industry Day was the importance of geospatial integrity and the role of the Geospatial Integrity of Geoscience Software (GIGS) framework in helping identify and reduce spatial data risks.   Our own John Kelly shared how EIVA uses the GIGS test dataset to continually validate geodetic coordinate computations within our NaviSuite software, helping ensure accuracy, consistency and reliability as systems evolve.   As survey operations become more data-driven and increasingly automated, confidence in data quality becomes just as important as the data itself.   From data uncertainty to data confidence. • No two subsea survey projects are identical. Yet many survey platforms are built around fixed sensor configurations. The result? Teams often have to adapt their survey approach to the limitations of the platform. Designed to accommodate heavier payloads, the ScanFish L and XL – the larger versions of EIVA's remotely operated towed vehicle sensor platforms – take a different approach. Their flexible designs and size support a wide range of sensor combinations, enabling operators to select the configuration that best supports their survey objectives and operational requirements. Because successful surveys start with the right tools for the task. Not the other way around. From platform limitations → application-driven flexibility. 👉 Learn more about the ScanFish XL: https://lnkd.in/euXn_9-p

  • From uncertainty to informed decision-making. Many survey professionals will encounter moments when something goes wrong and there's no senior colleague available to help. That's when confidence matters most.  Before joining EIVA as an Application Engineer and helping develop eLearning content, carolyn skerry spent years offshore as a data processor, progressing from small nearshore surveys to major offshore construction projects and pipeline inspections. In this clip, she describes a situation many professionals encounter during their careers: ‘Something might be going wrong and there's no senior staff around.’ That's where strong foundations matter. By helping users understand the principles behind NaviSuite workflows, EIVA NaviSuite eLearning is designed to build the knowledge that supports confident decision-making and effective troubleshooting in the field.  🎥 Watch Carolyn's advice on building confidence in the survey industry.  Looking to strengthen your understanding of NaviSuite workflows? • Survey and inspection projects often involve sharing large datasets between teams and clients. The challenge isn't just collecting data. It's making that data accessible when and where it's needed. NaviSuite Cloud Viewer is software that enables users to share and navigate NaviSuite data through a web browser, helping teams and clients access the data they need without installing third-party software.  Users can manage project access through My EIVA and share projects via a simple link, making it easier to control who can view project data.  Because successful projects depend on more than collecting information. They depend on being able to access and share it efficiently.  From difficult data sharing → efficient project access. 👉 Learn more about NaviSuite Cloud Viewer: https://lnkd.in/eZdY83tp

  • Ask someone what a rental department does and they’ll probably say: provide equipment. At EIVA, we see rental differently. It's not just about supplying equipment and software for subsea survey and inspection projects. It's about helping customers solve project challenges and ensuring they have the right solution for the job. That can mean: - Selecting the right system for a project's requirements - Preparing and testing equipment before mobilisation - Supporting vessel mobilisation and operations - Providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle Because successful subsea projects depend on more than equipment alone. They depend on equipment, software and workflows working together – backed by the expertise needed to keep operations running smoothly. That's why EIVA’s Rental team focuses on helping customers move from project uncertainty to project readiness. 👉 Learn more about renting hardware and software: https://lnkd.in/epRdZTB9

  • Offshore survey and inspection projects increasingly rely on multiple technologies working together.  As survey requirements grow, so too does the need to accommodate larger payloads and more advanced sensor packages.    A single project may require bathymetry, side-scan sonar and sub-bottom profiling data to fully understand an area of interest. The challenge is no longer collecting data from one sensor. It's integrating multiple sensors into a single, efficient workflow. That's where the ScanFish L and XL sensor platforms come in. Designed to accommodate larger payloads and more demanding survey sensors, the larger ScanFish remotely operated towed vehicle variants enable operators to collect and combine multiple datasets in a single deployment, creating a more complete picture of the underwater environment. Because the goal isn't simply carrying more sensors. It's turning multiple sources of data into a more complete picture of what's happening below the surface. From individual datasets → integrated survey insight. 👉 Learn more about the ScanFish XL: https://lnkd.in/euXn_9-p

  • From following instructions to understanding why they matter. That's the shift that transformed carolyn skerry's confidence during her years processing survey data offshore before joining EIVA as an Application Engineer and contributing to eLearning content development.  Looking back, there's one lesson that changed how she approached survey work and how she develops training material today: - Following instructions  - Understanding why those instructions matter As Carolyn explains: ‘Once you get the why down, you can start to feel a lot more confident in the things that you're doing in your day-to-day work.’ That principle sits at the heart of EIVA NaviSuite eLearning. The goal isn't simply to teach workflows. It's to help users understand the reasoning behind them, creating stronger troubleshooting, decision-making and problem-solving skills.  🎥 Watch Carolyn share what happened when she moved beyond simply following step-by-step guides and started understanding the reasoning behind them. • An ocean of data. A world of insight. The recent survey of the shipwrecked Terra Nova – the last ship of British Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott – is helping to create a detailed digital record of the historic wreck using underwater imaging and photogrammetry. But the value goes beyond creating a digital twin. Working alongside the Voyis stereo camera, Voyis VSLAM Powered by EIVA NaviSuite provides the operator-augmenting software that registers imagery and observations to a spatially referenced model while building coverage in real-time. This allows researchers to understand not only what they're seeing, but precisely where they are seeing it. The result is visual documentation transformed into measurable data, enabling more quantitative analysis, stronger scientific interpretation and greater confidence in the results. Understanding how ecosystems develop around long-standing human-made structures can provide valuable insights into the potential impacts of future infrastructure placed in the ocean. From a historic wreck on the seafloor → to a living laboratory that helps researchers understand how human activity and marine ecosystems interact over time.
