About this app

UnoRouter is an open-source, OpenAI-compatible LLM gateway. A single API key connects to 311+ models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, DeepSeek, Qwen and Mistral, so developers stop managing a separate key, bill and SDK per vendor. Automatic failover and smart routing spread requests across healthy providers, so one outage does not take an app down. It drops into existing code, Claude Code, OpenCode, Cline and SillyTavern. The built-in chat is local-first: conversations stay in the browser, never on a server. The whole stack is public and OSI-licensed. Free tier, then pay-as-you-go with credits that never expire.

Key features

  • 1Unified API: One key for 309+ models across 49+ providers, fully OpenAI-compatible.
  • 2Automatic failover: Smart routing spreads requests across healthy providers to avoid downtime.
  • 3Built-in chat: Local-first character chat with no setup, BYOK, and SillyTavern card import.

Scout Review

Written by AI from measured evidence, scored out of 100.

UnoRouter is a promising open-source LLM gateway that aims to solve the multi-provider API headache with a single key, automatic failover, and a built-in chat client. The landing page is visually strong, with a clear value prop and impressive stats, but it's marred by a cluttered hero and a slow load time (Lighthouse 50/100 mobile). Usability is a highlight, with a straightforward 3-step onboarding and solid docs. Security is a concern — HTTPS is there, but the header checklist is sparse and there's no SOC 2 or DMARC. Accessibility scores perfectly on automated checks, though manual verification is needed. Growth potential is high, thanks to a clear wedge (failover + chat) and a smart focus on the roleplay community. It's a solid early-stage product with real potential, but it needs to polish its performance and security posture to compete with the likes of OpenRouter.

Measure by measure

Usability

72

Clear 3-step onboarding, solid docs covering key topics, and a no-setup chat. Slight friction: 'Open chat' CTA is less prominent than others.

Design

70

Clean, modern landing page with strong stat cards and a bold hero, but the giant token counter and overlapping chat preview create visual clutter.

Speed

46

Lighthouse mobile 50/100 with LCP 4.8s and TBT 1.9s — sluggish for a landing page. Desktop is better at 58/100, but still not snappy.

Security

38

HTTPS is enforced, but the security header checklist is sparse (3/12): no HSTS, CSP, or frame protection. No SOC 2 or ISO claims found.

Accessibility

76

Lighthouse a11y score is a perfect 100/100, but that's automated-only. No explicit WCAG statement or multi-language support found on the site.

Growth

68

Real problem (multi-provider API chaos) with a clear wedge: failover + built-in chat. Broad target but strong differentiators for a growing niche.

Improvement areas

  • Performance: Landing page LCP is 4.8s on mobile; needs optimization to improve Core Web Vitals.
  • Security: Missing HSTS, CSP, and DMARC headers; no SOC 2 or ISO certification for enterprise trust.
  • Accessibility: Automated score is perfect, but no WCAG statement or multi-language support is evident.

Design & Usability

UnoRouter's landing page is a mixed bag. The design is clean and modern, with a bold 'UNIFIED API.' headline and well-structured stat cards that make the 309+ models and 49+ providers immediately scannable. The giant token counter is a clever credibility signal, but it's so large it competes with the actual product description, and the hero chat preview overlaps the headline, creating visual clutter. Usability is stronger: the 3-step onboarding is clear, the docs cover the essentials (quickstart, pricing, errors, billing), and the built-in chat with no-setup access is a genuine differentiator. The 'Open chat' CTA is less prominent than 'Get Started' and 'View Models,' which is a missed opportunity for a product that's pushing its chat client. Overall, it's a solid, above-average execution for an early-stage product, but the design needs to declutter and the usability could benefit from a more prominent chat entry point.

Speed & Security

Performance is the weakest link. Lighthouse scores of 50/100 on mobile and 58/100 on desktop are below par for a landing page that's mostly static content. The LCP of 4.8s and TBT of 1.9s suggest heavy client-side rendering or oversized assets, which will hurt both user experience and SEO. On the security front, the basics are in place — HTTPS is enforced — but the header checklist is sparse (3/12). No HSTS, CSP, or frame protection means the site is more vulnerable to common attacks like clickjacking and MIME sniffing. The absence of DMARC is a concern for domain spoofing. There are no SOC 2 or ISO claims, which is typical for a young company, but it means enterprise customers will have a hard time signing off. For a product that handles API keys and billing, these are areas that need immediate attention.

Accessibility & Growth

Accessibility is a bright spot: the Lighthouse audit scored a perfect 100/100, and the visual audit confirms a responsive, keyboard-navigable layout with good contrast. However, this is an automated score, and the site lacks an explicit WCAG conformance statement or multi-language support, which are common gaps for early-stage products. Growth potential is genuinely promising. The problem — managing multiple API keys, bills, and SDKs — is real and painful for developers. UnoRouter's wedge is its automatic failover and built-in chat client, which OpenRouter (the main alternative) lacks. The targeting of the AI roleplay community via SillyTavern integration is a smart, underserved niche that could drive early adoption. The category has headroom, and the product's differentiators are concrete. The main risk is execution: can it maintain reliability and pricing as it scales?

Conclusion

UnoRouter is a compelling entry in the crowded LLM gateway space. It's not just another API reseller — the failover, built-in chat, and roleplay focus give it a distinct identity. The core experience is good, but the landing page needs to be faster and less cluttered, and the security headers need a serious upgrade before enterprise customers will take it seriously. For indie developers and AI enthusiasts, especially those in the character chat community, it's already a viable option. If the team can tighten up performance and security, and keep the community engaged, this could carve out a solid niche. For now, it's a 'watch closely' — the potential is there, but the execution needs to catch up with the ambition.

Suggestions for improvement

  • Optimize the landing page: lazy-load the token counter and compress logos to improve LCP and TBT.
  • Add security headers (HSTS, CSP, frame protection) and a DMARC record to build trust with enterprise users.
  • Make the 'Open Chat' CTA more prominent in the hero to drive adoption of the built-in chat client.
  • Publish a public roadmap and a SOC 2 Type I report to signal maturity and attract larger customers.
