At Smoky Blue Literary and Arts Magazine, our primary interest is quality. We welcome submissions in any and all forms, genres, styles, and approaches in written word and image. We encourage innovation as well as tradition. We want to reward good writing through publication, and we annually send nominations for consideration of the Pushcart Prize.

We want any artist or writer to view SBLAAM as a potential home. We have since our inception encouraged submissions from seniors, but we judge all works we receive without any bias toward age, status, location, or any other identification.

Our main criteria is that the work be good: it should engage the reader/viewer. Art should not merely strike a familiar chord; it should enrich our experience. It must (in the words of Ezra Pound) “make it new.”
