in case anyone missed it, last week some guy flew around the swiss alps in a jet pack,
and the pope said it was ok to believe in space aliens.

so i can run vital errands and not starve?

video gamers,:
science wants to use your mad skillz...

"Gamers have devoted countless years of collective brainpower to idle pursuits. This week researchers at the University of Washington will try to harness those finely honed skills to make medical discoveries through a competitive protein-folding computer game."

i've just read the first page of h.g. wells's time machine...

and...

i think i'm in love.

i've previously enjoyed war of the worlds and island of dr. moreau
along with quite a bit of jules verne,
but this has that certain je ne sais quoi.

there is nothing in the world that i can do to make my hair behave today.

these pictures:

remind me strongly of what i refer to as the Mad-max rest stop that we encountered
150 (ish)miles west of cairo in the sahara.
same country, different side of the nile.
egypt is a strange place.

i am currently 'enjoying' a hot cuppa tea.
for the record, i make a lousy cuppa tea, i also make a lousy cuppa coffe.
i just suck at it.
even tough i am a near habitual tea drinker, i have maybe 4 times in my entire life made a perfect cup of tea.
(little cherubs circled the cup too, i swear)
needless to say the ability to make a good cuppa tea is something i value highly in others.
regardless of the quality my cuppa tea is doing exactly what i need it to, mainly keeping my hands warm and makign my knuckles less angry.

anyway.
the whole point of this post was to say that the 'fires of pompeii'
episode of nu-who is pretty awesome and feels like an old skool episode
and that catherine tate is officially a-ok in my book.

alas.

lately, ive been seeing a lot of science papers published stating thigs that i thought were very very obvious
things like: dinosaurs may have been able to swim, ancient bears were omnivorous, water is wet and so on.
this one i think is my favorite:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/101079

the fact that i never thought otherwise probably lies at the heart of at least some of my dating issues.

heath ledger is dead.
i don't think i have even seen a movie with him in it.
