Also, while I'm at it, for... let's call them various reasons which I am not very proud of I haven't crossposted here any of the (very few) fics I've written since, it seems, Yuletide 2014. Because it is the end of August, which means nothing really, let's just say because it is a DAY, here is a meme I found myself doing on tumblr but then could not leave any actual comments on (because: tumblr), and so am bringing it here. With, uh, a slight adaptation.

Original meme was:

Rule Number 1: Always post the rules!
Rule Number 2: Answer the person who tagged you, then write 11 new ones
Rule Number 3: Tag 11 people
Rule Number 4: tell them you tagged them

I answered the questions I was given and wrote 11 new ones, and since I enjoyed reading responses to the questions I wrote I will be answering them as well.

QUESTIONS:

1. What is your favorite holiday?
2. What snack/food from your country do you think everyone should taste?
3. What TV show do you absolutely 100% want to own the DVD box set of (or already own and would save from a burning building)?
4. What is the most difficult season to live through, where you live?
5. What 50k+ word fic would you rec under the category “you don’t need to know the canon for this”?
6. How might a character from your current fandom and a character/actor from a previous fandom realistically meet IRL?
7. Same fandoms; how do you imagine characters from these fandoms might meet in fic, crack AUs included?
8. What small detail from your life would you like to see incorporated in fic someday (or already have)?
9. What was the first fic you ever posted online? If you don’t write, first fic you read online?
10. Have you ever interacted with a character/actor/creator from one of your fandoms? (Elaborate if you want)
11. What’s your favorite trope in fics?

My answers below the cut: cut! )

I'm not tagging anyone specific - if you want to answer, consider yourself tagged! You can reply in the comments here or in your own spaces (I'd love you to leave me a link though so I can read your response).

You can create 11 questions in turn if you want to tag others, or just go with these :D
roga: spencer tickling brendon from panic at the disco (patd: tickles)
I ended up going to the concert! I dragged T with me, who is my coworker and travel buddy from back home (work rented us neighboring apartments and we spend... pretty much every day and every evening together). It was not his kind of music ultimately, but he did enjoy the show, because wow, does that band know how to put on a show. Brendon Urie. He's a talented guy.

look! they didn't take my camera away! also he has a wedding ring! times they have changed

I had no idea just how young the crowd would be, perhaps I'm a little out of touch with reality, but I'm also pretty sure the crowd in New York was much younger than the crowd was in the Panic concert I saw in London. In any case we hung out in the back feelings old, but the venue was spacious and I could see the stage well and that is all I wanted.

I was worried that Brendon would act like a douche, because uh, he can sometimes be that, especially in live shows, but he was very nice! Not nearly as talkative as he was in the last concert I saw him at, mostly just sang and thanked the audience every once in while, making sure no one was getting crushed up front.

I am still not a huge fan of Panic's fourth album and don't know the songs there well at all, but there were one or two that I changed my opinion about, seeing them performed live... now I just have to figure out which songs they were.

--oh and he did a backflip during Miss Jackson and it was pretty freaking gorgeous. And at least half the songs were from the first three albums, so you know. I was happy.
roga: pink lipped brendon urie looking pensive (patd: brendon urie: kind of pretty)
I haven't googled "NYC Events Today" for like 3 whole days and LO AND BEHOLD google is telling me that Panic are playing tonight at the Roseland Ballroom! Is anyone going? I would totally spend the however much they're charging even though I barely know anything from the fourth album and I believe there will be no Spencer Smith ;___; but probably not if I'm alone soooooo if any Bandom peeps from around here are going please let me know :D? :D? :D?

SPEAKING OF WHICH let me tell you about the type of AU that I now believe is totally realistic. You know the fics where Spencer leaves the band and becomes an accountant and leads a normal office life until one day his past comes back to haunt him and all of his coworkers are like "whaaat you were a rock star once!" and that's probably my favorite, albeit not very plausible moment in the fic?

WELL. There is a dude in our office who looks not unlike Spencer Smith (not as hot but come on), and he's this boring quiet desk job guy around Spencer's age, and last week all of a sudden someone pulls up a youtube video of some guy rapping and gasps, "Oh my god, is that you?" and next thing you know the entire office is crowding around in shock as we view this dude's, like, rap/hiphop video from 2008 that has over a quarter of a million views. He had an album! He was not unsuccessful! All of which is to say: sometimes the suspension of disbelief required for harlequin AUs is not required at all. JUST BELIEVE.

...and tell me if you're going to the Panic show tonight!

In honor of the LA Kings deciding to post their very own original team vid set to MCR's Welcome to the Black Parade earlier this week, here is a short compilation of hockey vids set to bandom songs:

1. From HBO's The Road to Winter Classic: Penguins/Capitals, an episode-ending montage set to Black Parade sans vocals, which is ridiculously narrated but ugh, such great music. The video intercuts shots of the players with shots of Pittsburgh's Heinz Field football stadium being transformed into an outdoors hockey rink, which is kind of cool. Quality is unfortunately not HD :( Link here, or embedded below cut. Cut! )

2. From the LA Kings, an intro video they aired before their Game 3 against the St. Louis Blues last week. It's all "Let's paint it black and take it back!". Because the Kings' uniforms are black! I can only imagine Ryan Ross's reaction, sitting in that crowd and watching the video play. Because My Chemical Romance make him ~dance~. Link here, or... embedded below cut. Cut cut )

3. Beautiful Blackhawks vid by [livejournal.com profile] way2busymom set to Panic! at the Disco's Ready to Go, which is such a great song to set sports videos to, building it up <3 This is my favorite vid of the lot (clearly fangirls are the best talented), and you really get a sense of team and talent and awesomeness <3. Also lol forever at "you're such a pretty thing" playing over Patrick Sharp in a suit, hahaha. Download links here.

4. I don't know, guys. Here is a video of Taylor Kitsch and David Boreanaz playing hockey, throwing down their gloves and helmets, stripping off their sweaters, and having it out on the ice. In the end Michael Rosenbaum skates over and squirts water at them to cool them down. And in the background, you can hear Welcome to the Black Parade playing. Because that's just how that sing rolls. Also embedded below cut. )

And now it is Saturday afternoon and I am starving and my fridge is empty. Unfortunate circumstances normally, but NO! For the first time, I'm actually remembering that there is a single supermarket chain that is open on Saturdays, and that I can, like, go there and exchange money for goods. On a Saturday. It's great. I'm excited :D Off I go and when I come back I will make salad and catch up on allll the Mad Men.
roga: coffee mug with chocolate cubes (Default)
I typed this post up last night and then didn't post! So pretend you are reading this yesterday. I will put in ETAs where necessary. Sorry for sucking at this journal thing, 9 years in. Ahem.

*

I'm going to see Les Mis tomorrow! :D :D :D It is possibly my favorite musical ever, I don't even know. I've only seen it once, in 1999, an Israeli production starring Dudu Fischer, and I am 100% sure I'm overhyping it in my head but what can you do other than keeping reminding yourself that. There's just something about the music, or the cast, or that image of red flags and barricades that gives me chills even when I watch it on youtube. We're going to the Beit Zvi Academy of Arts production, so it'll be low cost and the stage will be small and the actors will be young, and still I am looking forward to it like, as they say, whoa.

eta: I got back from the show and OH MY GOD how is it so good ) Aaand for all you musical/Hebrew fans, have some youtube clips of Les Mis in Hebrew )/eta

Tel Aviv, Friday afternoon )

*

So last week I went to reserve duty. Reserve duty and strange cross-military briefings )

*

FINALLY, the LA KINGS guys :D :D :D Their success makes me so happy. You know who it makes even happier? One George Ryan Ross, who has not only bought and worn merchandise and gone to their last two games and tweeted photographic evidence, but has in fact tweeted more about them than I did, and retweeted tweets from the official @LAKings twitter which I'm pretty sure everyone agrees is the best official team twitter around. To summarize, that would be 4 retweets and 16 tweets recently overall.

OTHER FANNISH THINGS RYAN ROSS HAS TWEETED RECENTLY:

"fucking love sports night" # <-- in response to "I wish there was a secret season 3 of Sports Night that I could watch all of today."
"prob about 10-12 in a row" # <--number of Friday Night Lights episodes he's seen in a row (basically an entire season)
"well, we're not in one direction yet" # --< in response to someone else's "No, me and @thisisryanross aren't in One Direction.. But thanks for asking ;)"

Ryan Ross, best fanboy or best fanboy?

In any case, if you are interested in knowing who these LA Kings are, even just for the sake of Ryro's, uh, whatever, here is a long but pretty great primer. If you want to cut to the chase and read the most relevant pairing primer in that team, which is 100% enjoyable, I feel, outside of any slash context, read the The Not-So-Tragic Tale of Jeff Carter and Mike Richards, who were recently reunited on the lines of the LA Kings. I would not be surprised if Ryan Ross were their biggest shipper of them all.
roga: spencer tickling brendon from panic at the disco (patd: tickles)
OKAY. I think it is time to make an actual post that is not just whining. SO. I will talk about three things and they will be, in the following order, (a) clone!Spencer, (b) fun., and (c) cows.

(a) THE RETURN OF CLONE!SPENCER. As you may or may not recall, a few weeks ago I went to a show at a club in Tel Aviv and encountered Spencer Smith's clone. On Monday I went to a friend's birthday at the same club AND LO, who was manning the sound stand if not MR. CLONE HIMSELF. And the show was nice at all but so was getting to stare at that dude all evening. Again. And I WILL at some point figure out how to maybe in the future but in the meantime I'm just going at it research mode, all "oh, so this is how Spencer Smith moves" and "this is how SS drinks" and "this is how S flirts" and so on and so forth. And thn on Thursday evening [personal profile] marina and I went to see Antigone Rising playing at the same club, and they were a fucking awesome all-girl rock band (youtube channel here) and it was a great start to a pretty great weekend. And yes, clone!Spencer was working the sound again so I was basically just walking around like this *________* all night.

If you are not in Bandom feel free to skip the next part because I am a creepy stalker; if you are in Bandom PHOTOS AND VIDEO OF CLONE!SPENCER BELOW: stalkerstalkerstalker )

(b) there is this band called fun. and they have a new album.

Man, I love fun. so much <3. So so much <3 <3 <3. So, if you do not know fun., here is a primer on who they are. They released their new album Some Nights this week, which you can stream here at ournameisfun.com (when the site isn't down, ha), and I have just been pimping this everywhere I can. To wit, one of the whiteboards at work which a neighboring office wiped clean so I would have room to draw them stuff:

non-stop pimping )

Here they are on Conan a few days ago:

I saw this yesterday and I was just, this was my face: ♥___♥. Not many people actually sound GOOD on live TV but man, Nate's voice, it's MAGICAL how like the recording he is. And his hair <3! And I love that Jack is wearing the band's official “It’s all fun. and gay ’til someone loses their rights. LGBTQ Equality Now" t-shirt on the stage where it would get the most exposure, and that along with the album release promotions, and now that they've been getting (so I understand) more hype due to the Glee cover of their song, he also blogged for the Huffington Post: Straight Allies: The Importance and the Realities.

In conclusion I love this band for many different reasons. I will say that the thing I don't like about this album is some of the auto-tuning, because I love Nate's voice and any auto-tuning just seems so unnecessary and in the way. But other than that: <3.

(c) cows.

We went to the hills outside town today! [personal profile] marina came over and we took the dog for a walk in new and exciting pastures. There were flowers and cows and sunlight. A+ weekend weather, would repeat again.

A couple photos below the cut: )

That's it! I was going to link to/rec/mention some more stuff but I am nodding off in front of the laptop screen, so not atm. <---ETA wooow fail. I wrote that hours ago and then fell asleep before hitting send and then Windows Updates restarted my computer and closed all of my open files. Thank you, DW draft saver; you can all pretend I posted this at a normal hour instead of 6AM.
roga: pink lipped brendon urie looking pensive (patd: brendon urie: kind of pretty)
Where to even begin? Since I have still not caught up on sleep since the weekend and I barely woke up for work today, I will just say that I love everyone I met in London (hi guys!♥) and I will put up a full recap of everything after I get some sleep.

I will also say that anyone who wants to participate in [community profile] purimgifts but has not yet signed up, tomorrow is the last day for sign ups, so hurry thee to the rule post or AO3 sign up form and sign up :D

For those of you who've never done this before, it's basically writing 3 ficlets, each between 300-1000 words (no more), about characters who are female and/or Jewish and/or persecuted by evil viziers, and also gifting your recipient with 3 images/art/graphics of some kind. (I will remind you also that there is this guy in bandom, some call him Gabe Saporta, you may write about him if you like.)

Okay, so now I will go and sleep and tomorrow I will hopefully be awake enough to (1) be awake and (2) post stuff. I will leave you with just one video before I go:

THAT'S RIGHT THAT IS ONE MINUTE AND FORTY SECONDS OF DRUMMING BEFORE I MADE THE BIZARRE DECISION TO PAN AWAY FROM SPENCER SMITH'S FACE. I've rewatched this video an average of 7 times a day this week. I'M REALLY DOING BETTER.
roga: (patd: brendon recording)
So I may have failed to answer your wonderful, wonderful comments on my last post, but thank you so much for the encouragement and validation and I am GOING TO LONDON. I angsted and angsted, and my boss said "you can go if you take just one day off", and then I double-checked she was still cool with it and she CHANGED HER MIND and there was a LOT of angst of the what-the-fuck-am-I-doing-at-this-job-that-I-don't-love-earning-money-if-I-can't-use-it-to-do-the-things-I-DO-love kind, and then, half an hour later, she changed her mind again! So on Friday morning I bought the flight tickets, and yesterday I managed to get a standing ticket to the show, and so I am flying in two days *___*

On the bad side, I have been working my ASS off this week trying to make up in advance the work I'm going to miss because I'm grateful to my boss for letting me go, which is kind of crap because I have vacation days and shouldn't ACTUALLY be staying in the office until 10PM, but my brain is kind of fucked up and tired and overworked right now. So it's been an exhausting week, and unfortunately it's also come at the expense of [community profile] purimgifts, which, ha, still not live. I will try my hardest to get it live tonight.

On the bright side: LONDON. PANIC. LONDON. MEETING PEOPLE. :D! It has done me so much good, spirits-wise, making this decision and buying the tickets and just going with it, that I really can't regret it, and don't regret the cost. I just feel so good about this, of taking this break and doing this thing I want to do just for me and not holding out for rewarding myself for when I get everything fixed in my life. I have't taken any vacation days in the over a year I've worked in this company (sick days, yes, errand days, but not a real vacation), and I haven't traveled abroad at all since last summer, and just thinking about cold London air is making me ♥.

My plans are basically:

*Land on Thursday noon (around 12)
*Arrive at the venue at around 5:30PM? Doors open at 7:00, I hear there are lines for this sort of thing? (advice welcome!)
*concert, then [livejournal.com profile] sunsetmog!
*be in London on Friday!
*be in London on Saturday!
*possibly catch a musical during one of these days! (Sat matinee?) Or try and catch Leronardo Da Vince at the National Gallery. OR BOTH.
*leave for the airport at about 6:30PM for my 10:30 flight back Saturday night

SO. Given that I don't have a LOT of time in London, but certainly some, I would love to meet some of you while I'm there, and also just in general get recommendations for local stuff that I might not have heard of; consider that I've been to London before and have done the big touristy things, but I still LIKE big touristy things like museums and castles and cool exhibitions, but I also like small local stuff, or just walking around, especially if it means getting to hang out with people :D

This is probably the worst time to post given that it's almost the end if the day in the UK right now, BUT OKAY SO: questions!

1. London questions:
--will you be in London this weekend? Do you want to meet up? If so, since this is kind of last minute coordination, please comment/email/PM me your contact info (email/phone/skype). I'll have my regular phone while I'm there, and internet where there's wifi.
--Do you have any recommendations/tips for places to go, events taking place this weekend that I shouldn't miss, anything?
--oh god how warm do I need to dress? It's going to be like 1 degree. It was over 15 degrees here today. Meep?

2. Panic/concert questions:
--Will YOU be at the show?
--Brixton Academy and dSLR cameras: y/n? Will they let me in? How can I convince them to? What will happen if I try to smuggle it in? Will there be a place to check my bag/coat and is it safe?
--How early do I REALLY need to be there to have a decent place in line?
--CAN YOU SEE SPENCER WELL ENOUGH FROM DALLON'S SIDE OF THE STAGE
--ummm any other tips?

So that is that. I'm sorry this was so long and uncut! I'm sorry that sounded like a dick joke! I just. This is what their shows have been like lately, okay. And I am going to London. I am the definition of excite <3 \o/
roga: (mcr: frank rocking sky :D)
Oh, man. I think I'm getting sick, meep, and I still haven't replied to comments on my last entry even which ha ha irony, but this just made my day:

[livejournal.com profile] rosalui made two MCR fanvids last year, which MCR found when looking for footage to incorporate in their latest official music video. They loved it so much that they contacted her, asked her permission to use it, credited her as director and paid her for it.

I have so much love for this band and fandom, guys. I love that more than any other fandom I can think of, at least that I've been a part of, MCR not only encourage but advocate fan creativity. And then stuff like this happens, where a you have this fanvid that becomes the basis of a a band's official music video. Just, ♥.

You can read [livejournal.com profile] rosalui's account of how it went down here.
roga: (patd: brendon recording)
GUYS. GUYS the night I have had. I SAW SPENCER SMITH'S CLONE. I have mostly forbidden [personal profile] marina to post about this because I know she will make me out to be a ridiculous stalkerlady which haha WILL NOT BE THAT FAR FROM THE TRUTH but okay, it's a FREE COUNTRY (MOSTLY FOR MOST PEOPLE), STARING IS NOT AGAINST THE LAW. Besides, he never saw me staring. I know because I was staring at this dude every second he was in my line of site.

wherein I ramble about this dude a LOT )

...and this is what ended up breaking my posting silence. Here is what happened: I was a truly, truly, unforgivably crappy ficathon participant this December. I ended up submitting both my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide and [livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit stories, but I was so late and stressed and terrible at mod communication and guilty about it that I just -- didn't feel like I could post anything while I was still getting those done, and then didn't feel like I could post anything until I made big epic thank you posts to my gifters (because oh my god, the gifts I got this year, I am still overwhelmed), and until I left the proper comments everywhere, and until I replied to all the comments and posts that I wanted to, and and and, and in the end I just put everything on hold and end up being frustrated. So my apologies for now, and I will post an actual round up and thank yous, and my 2012 resolution is not to sign up for any exchange style ficathons in 2012 because clearly I've forgotten how to do them in a healthy way. I don't even know what I'll be doing for [community profile] purimgifts (which, ha, I really need to start organizing), but despite really really wanting to, I should not sign myself up for.

So this has been the reason of my lack of posting. And oh, I want to post. THE GOOD WIFE (last week's episode ♥♥♥ Diane ♥♥♥). SHAMELESS -- is anyone watching Shameless (US)? omg &Ian; &Fiona; &Lip; &everyone;. And Bandom, ugh, this nearly two hour podcast with Panic that I'm not even half done listening to, and SPENCER'S NEW GIRLFRIEND: CONFIRMED, WHAT DO I DO WITH THAT, and Ryan tweeting Spencer back after Spencer's stupid 69 joke <3, and MCR's pretty pretty pretty Kids From Yesterday video.

ALSO. Some non-fandom stuff: the country pretty much had a COLLECTIVE NATIONAL ORGASM yesterday from the 11 centimeters of... water that were added to the Kineret (Sea of Galilee) over the weekend with the rainstorms we've (finally!) had for the past three days. The Kineret surface level (miflas ha'Kineret) has two red lines: the upper red line which means DANGER DANGER SURFACE LEVEL SHOULD NOT GO BELOW THIS LINE, and the bottom red line which means hahahaha DOOM. The surface level dropped below the bottom red line a few years ago, and is currently 5 meters or so below the upper red line (you can see the updated stats in the diagram with the floating ducky here). And yet, 11 cms is a cause to rejoice. RAIN.

Speaking of water, here is what I recently learned about Finding Nemo: If Nemo were real, then Nemo's dad would have transformed into the breeding female after Nemo's mom died, and Nemo would have become the breeding male. THAT'S RIGHT. I know.

I had a mostly lovely birthday weekend with my sisters and family and friends. I got amazing gifts -- a Kindle Fire from my parents, and money-I-will-be-using-to-but-filters-for-my-camera-lens-with (does anyone here know anything about polarizer/ND/GND filters? I do not really but I WANT THEM) from my grandmother, and a laptop lap-desk from friends (it's like they know me), and handmade Brendon and Spencer ornaments (I kid you not) from [personal profile] marina + other fun stuff, and there are many things I feel like I'm doing wrong with my life and birthdays are a chance to reevaluate and I guess feel bad about them, but it was a lovely weekend nonetheless.

I don't even know what I'm trying to say in this very incoherent post, except that I met

Smith's clone, I'm sorry for my recent conduct/misconduct/lack of any kind of conduct on LJ(/DW), and oh, even if I don't seem to be here or comment much anymore, I am reading and trying to be caught up as much as I can.

Okay, the water has heated up enough for me to take a shower and wash off the smell of bar-cigarettes; off I go.
roga: gabe saporta's smirking lips (cobra: gabe)
I never feel quite so good about my day as when I start my morning with a few uninterrupted hours at a coffeeshop, with soft morning jazz playing in the background. I should do this more often, and not just when I have to wake up early to drive a sleepy brand new officer (&[livejournal.com profile] miarr;) to her base and then meet some fandom writing deadlines.

Yesterday I woke up to a holiday card from [livejournal.com profile] bironic! It had snowflakes and glitter and happiness :D Remember that week of rain we had about a month ago? Needless to say the rain has not yet dared return to our sadly summer districts, and yesterday I wore a short sleeved blouse to work. Oh globe, why you be so warm.

Since I do have writing to attend to, I will share just a handful of links that bear no delay:

1. [livejournal.com profile] girlmarauders's drumming primer. One of the truly fucking cool things about fandom is when you can just learn cool things from cool people who know stuff you don't. I never knew I wanted to know anything about drumming, even being in music-based fandoms for the past few years, but this primer is just interesting and cool and informative and hey, I know a little bit more about drumming now! It's got photos and gifs and videos and notes and sound samples and yes, Spencer Smith, drummer of Panic! at the Disco. You don't have to be in Bandom to read this, you just need to like learning things. (<-- see also my assumption that you don't already know things about drumming, ha. sorry for that.)

2. [livejournal.com profile] reena_jenkins has recorded an awesome podfic of Respectable Policework (Discworld/AI8/Bandom), which makes me happy to the bottom of my heart ♥. She is really great and has a special DEATH voice filter and I love her podfics a lot ♥. You can see her (uh, flattering :D) post and download link here.

<3>3. [livejournal.com profile] derryere made a Merlin falling asleep at his desk cake. How fucking cool is that.

4. Rec: Wherever it Goes by [community profile] ruintooeasy and [insanejournal.com profile] stele3 - Panic! at the Disco, Brendon/Spencer, 20k, PG-13, baseball AU. I'd meant to rec this when it came out, but it's one of those fics where I felt I would need time to write the proper rec it deserves and then you end up never getting around to it, so this is me, getting around to it.

Rookie pitcher Spencer Smith has a lot on his mind. His baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds, have made it to the post season, and reporters keep asking about his 'good friend,' singer Brendon Urie. All Spencer wants to think about is getting his team through nine innings... but the past keeps creeping in.

This is a fic for people who love (a) baseball and/or (b) closeted celebrity coming out stories and/or (c) great stories. Two boys meet in college and fall in love and become a little bit famous and suddenly things aren't as simple as they should be.

The story takes place throughout the course of a single major (or minor? uh) league baseball game, from the POV of Spencer, the rookie pitcher, inning-flashback-inning-flashback, woven together. The baseball scenes are riveting and the flashback scenes are like a punch in the gut, and if you like any of the things I mentioned above I urge you to read it even if you are not in Bandom. Baseball people, I'm looking at you <3

5. I will end with my desperate need to share a stupid pun which made me LOL IRL but since it involves Hebrew slang which requires explanation and explaining jokes is REALLY EMBARRASSING I will be putting it under the cut: So if there was a Gabe Saporta/insert your Jewish character/Hanukkah PWP fic it would really have to be called... )

Hmm maybe tonight I will post my own version of Maoz Tzur, as I have just gotten my mom to teach me the second-part-harmony so now I can harmonize with myself.

For now, have a wonderful day, and if you're lighting a candle tonight, chag sameach <3
roga: (mcr: gerard my pretty pretty hair!)
...oh my god, I just saw MCR singing the song they wrote on Yo Gabba Gabba. This band. How are they so... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If EVER I needed a reminder for how awesome they are.

I cannot believe this took me 27 minutes! I didn't THINK I was rambling too long. HO HOW WRONG I WAS.

Here I am, answering the following questions by [livejournal.com profile] sneaky_sena:

1. What's your username and is there a story behind it?
2. Where are you from and where do you live now?
3. What are you wearing? Yes, I am hitting on you.
4. How long have you been in bandom? How did you get into it?
5. Which bands are your favorites?
6. Which band members are your favorites?
7. Have you seen any of them in concert? Any fun stories or memories to share?
8. Do you have an OTP? What is it, and why do you love it?
9. What story do you wish someone would write?
10. Are you working on something for bandom right now? Tell us a little bit about it.
11. You've got fic open somewhere on your computer right now, don't lie. So go to one of your open tabs or word documents or whatever, and read us a couple of lines.
12. Say these words: Iero, haberdashery, LOLcat, flist, dirigible, halcyon, nemesis, ephemeral, languorous

Porn meme at [personal profile] synecdochic's! I may have left about 20 Bandom (mostly Panic) prompts. Check it outtttt :D

(Everyone not in Bandom/Panic I am truly sorry for spamming the comments there. I will do my best to justify it with a fill. ALSO you should all participate with your fandoms okay ~share the love~.)
roga: (patd: brendon recording)
There are NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY, someone should get on that /o\ Okay I really need to sleep and I don't even have TIME to express all of the fandom-happy I've been flailing with tonight so I'll be quick:

1. ADAM. Adam Lambert performed with Queen tonight at the MTV European Music Awards and aside from the fact that it's awesome in and of itself, he sounded SO great, seriously, so great <3. I love how Brian May is now like a collector of RPF personas, what with MCR earlier this year and now this. Here he is with Adam. :D

2. Speaking of people with great voices, Brendon's voice just keeps getting better and better and he seriously sounds so good in "Always" now, which is an incredibly difficult song to sing -- I can't believe he sang the end without the falsetto there -- and also, re: the context of that last clip, HOW CUTE are he and Sarah ugggggggh.

3. This is the best Panic picspam ugh. It includes photos like this and this and this and is all round amazing. (Even though it does not include this photo, jfc.)

4. Speaking of amazing photos, Frank fucking Iero unf.

5. Unrelatedly, here is a photo [personal profile] marina took of me yesterday at the museum.

Okay I will make some kind of real life post at some point I guess. For now: FANDOM :D

(6. Panic people probably already know this, but there is another Panic Pain Kink 'thon going on! There are no prompts I can actually attempt writing, it is very sad, but I hope more people post prompts and fills both.)

(7. I was going to go asleep but the s2 finale of Downton Abbey just arrived on my computer and, well. LOL MATTHEW basically. Let's see what you are up to (or not up to, as it were) this week.)

I have the crappiest internet connection in the universe and I don't even know if it will last long enough for me to post so I just want to say two things:

1. I just watched yesterday's Merlin and I'm editing to cut for a single line of emotional spoilers because I hate emotional spoilers )

2. Signs ups for [livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit, the Bandom holiday exchange, end tonight, so if you want to participate (AND IF YOU ARE IN BANDOM, PLEASE DO) don't forget to sign up here.

Man oh man oh man I really need to install some internet in this joint /o\ This time I am going to pull out all the stops with a 10MB connection, you bet I am. It will be heaven, I am sure.

And now I will watch episode 2 of Game of Thrones, which I have promised to watch in exchange for a girl from work reading The Hunger Games. I'm not even sure how that trade-off makes sense.

anyway yeah GO SIGN UP. (Also: welcome back, [personal profile] marina! You have chosen the best of all weeks to come back, if goodness is measured by the content aired on the nightly news. The best.)

I'm still googly-eyed over the news, I can't remember the last time -- at all, seriously -- that there's been such jubilation in the streets, in the news, it's been two days since the announcement and it's still hard to comprehend. And I'm still holding my breath because it's not going to be real until Gilad Shalit actually meets his parents again, until we see him step on Israeli soil, and we've been through this before and last time they lowered coffins to the ground, not survivors. It's nothing short of ridiculous that kidnapped soldier is part of our national vocabulary, that our personal histories are sprinkled with collective memories of eighteen-year-old kids who could be anyone's son or brother or friend reading today's paper as proof of life on the evening news. I remember Nahshon Waxman's tapes on the news when I was in fourth grade, and the news that the army was pulling a heroic rescue operation to get him out safe, and the news that the operation failed and the op commander killed and Waxman executed before the army got there, and the realization that life doesn't work like the movies that way.

It's not final yet. But almost, almost, and oh, while the future is uncertain, while the price paid was high, it's such an enormous relief to have this not hovering over us any longer. Almost there.

And while I'm still all O_O about it, I'm also finally able to actually concentrate on other things. Like Downton Abbey! HAVE I MENTIONED it is so lovely <333. Apparently my grandmother watched it when it was on Channel 1, ha. And also The Hour, which I am on episode 4 of, hush-don't-tell-me-anything but I am greatly enjoying that as well, for those of who who've been looking for the MI6 Cold War reporting noir thriller you've always dreamed of. I have also acquired Game of Thrones and am in the process of getting season 1 of Doctor Who, and I've watched Merlin (wow) and House (...wow? lol idek) and the first two episodes of Switched at Birth. AS YOU CAN SEE I have been having a very productive holiday /o\ HAPPY SUKKOT by the way.

Also I drew this picture of Dallon. Because:

@DallonWeekes
Bass problems galore tonight, BUT the show was VERY fun anyway. I found out I'm too old to crowd surf anymore. #myback

@TheIanCrawford
@DallonWeekes this may sound weird, but for a second when you were mid-air over the audience, I think you took on the shape of a unicorn

@brendonboydurie
Thank you, Sacramento. Tonight was a success.. meaning I didn't throw up on anyone. And I saw a unicorn stage-dive. A very old unicorn.

hi Dallon hi )

...I am still excited about this app yes. If anyone has any prompts I can give them a shot! Or, one or two of them, since it still takes me a long time to draw anything basically.
roga: coffee mug with chocolate cubes (coffee chocolate)
I am wearing long sleeves for the first time this fall! \o/ Granted, it is evening, and my long sleeves are over the sleeveless I wore all day, and it is mostly because the air-conditioning in this cafe is a little too strong, but still. I am absolutely crediting it to the month of October.

I am assuming you're asking which cafe I am sitting at, because naturally. It is the cafe next to my new apartment :D Which is still an utter mess, but today I decided that fuck it, I will sleep in that place even if it looks like hell. It's been a really, really long day at work -- everything decided to crash, and it feels like we have to get a ton of stuff done before the holiday, which is stupid because Yom Kippur is on a weekend so really this is just a regular weekend! But everyone's panicking. ANYWAY I ended up leaving work at 21:50 (/o\), and since I haven't stocked the apartment with any food yet, I would have had no dinner, and LO, a few streets from my quiet neighborhood place there is a cafe! So I decided to check it out. It is called Neighbouts Cafe, and as I walked in I had three questions: 1. Is the kitchen still open? 2. Do you serve actual food? and 3. Do you have wifi? The answer to all three was yes, and I like this place so much! It is a dairy only place (=veggie for the rest of you guys) and after I ordered they served me grape leaf rolls with tziziki because, I don't know, just because. Their salad was a combo of all these strange earthy-fruity vegetable-fruit-nut mix and it was excellent, as was the (veggie, idk) Shepherd's Pie, AS IS the iced coffee that I am still sipping. In short: I am pleased with this cafe and enjoy knowing that I am living in its proximity and would like to invite all of you to it (and to my many fold-out couches which I apparently have!).

Last night I was feeling antsy and wanted to draw something using our new iPad drawing app I mentioned, which I wanted to practice on, and [personal profile] isweedan prompted me with "characters in space", and so: Kiljoys in space! )

I still have much to learn, but I am generally pleased :-) Another thing I am generally SO MUCH MORE THAN GENRALLY pleased about is that ever since the beginning of the Jewish new year not one week ago, there have been TWO Bandom kidfic not!fics posted \o/! I would like to declare 5772 the Year of Kidfic and hope that this trend continues for a long long time *__*. Meanwhile here are the two super adorable fluffy not!fics of happiness:

The one where Mr. Brendon teaches Spencer's niece by [personal profile] reni_days (Spencer/Brendon, probably 2-3k?)

The one where single dad!Brendon is Spencer's PA which starts off as an office AU and ends up so much more <333 by [livejournal.com profile] sunsetmog, [livejournal.com profile] hermette and [livejournal.com profile] pennyplainknits (Brendon/Spencer, 11lk, PG-13/R)

Okay. I am now officially way too tired to actually clean apartment tonight as planned. So I will: (a) stick around the cafe for a while longer since I don't know if the apartment will have wifi, (b) crash into bed, hopefully managing to clear it of all the crap I stored on it for now before hand, (c) try to clean the place as much as I can tomorrow morning, before (d) driving back to my parents' by 15:00 at most, because it'll be Yom Kippur eve and people don't drive starting from around aftenoonish. I don't think I'll be going to services tomorrow afternoon; honestly, I just don't feel like the hour-long walk. But idk, we'll see. In case I don't get to say it before then -- G'mar Hatima Tova <3
roga: gabe saporta's smirking lips (cobra: gabe)
--Holy shit, House. I kind of stopped watching the show sometime in season 7, only catching a sporadic episode here and there, but I just watched the premiere of season 8 and okay, first of all holy plot twist, Batman! but secondly -- I just really enjoyed the episode. And also Hugh Laurie's hair <333. So that was... kind of awesome.

--Gabe Saporta said his Biblical band name would be Guns & Moses. I'm just informing the public.

--I love The Good Wife so much.

--I'm also enjoying Pan Am, especially as I wait for Mad Men to return. Enough that I think I might request it for [community profile] yuletide? I kind of want to read about douchebag!pilot being topped by one of the ladies /o\

--[livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit (Bandom holiday exchange) is open for sign ups! Signs ups close on the 16th, so just remember to sign up before then if you want to :D

--So we have an iPad. Have I mentioned? My dad bought an iPad, so by "we" I mean "I have access to". The first thing I did was download a browser app that enables private browsing, and the second thing I did was spend about 8 hours reading tons of September DCU comics (more on that later). And tonight I bought "Brushes", which is an art app that is amazing oh my god -- it's like drawing with a tablet on photoshop except with your fingers and I've only just begun learning about its features but I can't wait to try some more *__*. UNFORTUNATELY I still don't know how comfortable I'd be doing fannish stuff with that app because there is no iPad privacy :( But I will TRY.

--rec rec rec: All The Roads We Have to Walk are Winding by [livejournal.com profile] sneaky_sena/[personal profile] janesays, Bandom, Brendon/Spencer, 17,500, NC-17. In which Spencer thinks he might be in love and that having someone to have sex with on a regular basis is awesome. He also learns that Christmas sucks and families tend to implode around the holidays. High school fic about falling in love and sex and coming out, and a few days after reading it I'm finally getting over all of the FEELINGS and feelings it gave me.

--I was going to write a Spencer-turns-into-a-girl plotbunny but it was getting too long to write at 3AM. But that would be awesome.
