Work, at least, is better. After having finished dealing with 90% of my old fuck ups that dragged on forever in the past two weeks, I had, in what I thought would be the worst timing ever, my half-yearly review this afternoon... which was excellent? I'm consistently awed at job reviews how much confidence my bosses have in me doing a good job. I swear it's because I wear glasses (they make me look smart) and stay late hours (an illusion that I work hard instead of have terrible time management skills). Sigh. But at least the review made me far less stressed in everything related to my actual job.

Job-related things that ARE still unpleasant to think about: the fact that more colleagues might be called to reserve duty. --> see that clever segue? *self-five* . Anyway, yes: dude from work, who is a sweet, good friend spending all his free time busy with wedding preparations for two weeks from now, got a call today that they'll probably call him up in 1-2 days. And if he goes and this stretches beyond, say a week from now, he'll probably go into the actual Gaza territory. Which: NO D:. Ugh. Also a couple more guys from work are worried they'll be called up. I can keep hoping this will end soon but I don't actually think it will in less than a week at least, idek what to hope for.

The worst part is - I really don't know what should happen. Like, as usual, I don't actually have any good plan for what needs to be done in order for there to be quiet. You'd think that by the age of 29 I'd have at least an idea? But honestly I just don't know. I wish the people in control of Gaza were not Hamas, I wish both leadership and public opinion on both sides were moderate, but I can also wish for unicorns for all the good that'll do.

Yesterday's big local news story was (a) the death of 13 soldiers during an overnight operation, and (b) the fact that way before families were notified and the death toll confirmed, rumors about the event, including names, spread like wildfire across social media and whatsapp, causing much stress and heartache for everyone involved or remotely related.

Today's actually scary moment was two Hamas infantry units infiltrating two towns down south through tunnels, which haha SO MUCH SCARIER THAN ROCKETS wow. The Hamas guys were disguised as IDF soldiers. The two towns were on lockdown for a few hours until the area was cleared. In general, the underground tunnels running from Gaza to Israeli towns and fields are honest to god terrifying (and yes I know everything about actually living in Gaza is terrifying right now but it doesn't make these tunnels not terrifying? UGH.

Okay, for real next post needs to be about fandom because there's a fic rec I've been sitting on for like two months and it was a WIP that was FINALLY finished last week and ahhh I want to rec it so bad. And rec more things. I've had, like four of my prompts filled at the hockey kink meme, it's amazing. So many good things are happening in hockey these days. It's really freaking fun.

ETA: noooooo I'd forgotten there was a new Masters of Sex episode to watch and now it's already 1AM! Gah. Dnw to wait until tomorrow to watch, will definitely fall asleep if I watch it now. The eternal struggle.
