I'm sure there are things I should be posting about. Definitely, there are things. Which I cannot recall.

The elections are tomorrow. Here's an awesome story: my roommate and her dad are both voting for Barak, and for days now he's been giving her speeches about how people just aren't getting that as much as they want Barak and the Defense Minister and so they're voting for a different candidate for Prime Minister, if his party doesn't get enough votes - like, 20 mandates - he's not even going to be able to be the Defense Minister. In the end, she talked her dad into calling the Labor party HQ (or whatever number they advertised in their website), and he talked to a bunch of campaign people saying "LISTEN YOU HAVE TO GET THIS MESSAGE OUT", and one hour later, the news started reporting Barak's statement saying exactly that. The little man can make a difference! However many people vote for Barak tomorrow, I am attributing one mandate to my roommate.

Happy Tu Bishvat. I didn't step outside all day long and saw no actual trees, nor ate any actual fruits. But! I ate chocolate. And cocoa is something that does grow on trees. So I feel like I have celebrated, on my part.

Okay, so I watched episode 3x09 of Battlestar Galactica and kept IMing

There must be AUs in which this happens! And the more I warm up (not that I could BE any warmer) to Roslin/Adama, the less I care about Kara/Lee fic, which is all I wanted at first. Canon really is good (end depressing).

coffeesuperhero and I joke about it. We watch "Home" and say, "Oh, man, remember when 'Lee Adama loves me' was the CENTER of our whole WORLD?" And now, of course, it is not. Adama/Roslin is the only ship I care about! Kara can be with anyone (except Leoben) or no one at all and I won't mind.

Dude, there's at least one giant long fic where BSG lands in NYC in our time and Kara and Lee get married and have like 3 kids and Papadama is all like playing with the grandkids and Kara's all stressed because "she doesn't know how to tell Lee she's pregnant again" because it's such a special and magical event.

Fun trivia tidbit: everyone was REALLY SHOCKED that BSG was allowed to portray character smoking a joint. So, on the podcast for this episode, the creator was there with the actors of Sahron and Helo (seriously, could he have picked worse series regulars to give commentary ON THIS PARTICULAR EPISODE?) and then the creator goes "yeah that scene [with the joint], I can't believe they let us get away with that"
and Sharon's like "what? why's it a big deal? aren't they just smoking a cig?"
And the creator's like "... wow, um, yeah, sure, as long as there's at least one person in the universe who thinks that looking at this scene I guess we're safe"

Also, I know you didn't really mean it about Kara being a bitch, but it reminded me of how Lee NEVER SEES IT COMING. Like, he's known Kara longer than we have, and yet HE NEVER SEES THIS SHIT COMING, HAHAHAHAHA. Come on, Kara told you she loved you and had sex with you unitoxicated? YOU KNOW SHIT IS GONNA GO DOWN.

Are you kidding? They were both drunk to hell. Apparently sex with Lee sobers you up, though. I can't decide whether that's good or bad.

Well drunk with Kara is a relative state. She was DRUNK AS ALL HELL in Scar, I'd say she was only mildly intoxicated in UB and the long walk outside in the cold certainly sobered her up nicely even if sex with Lee hadn't HAHAHA God the line "sex with Lee sure seems to sober you up" IS MADE OF WIN.

Seriously, Grace was like "what?" and RDM and Tahmoh were LAUGHING THEIR ASSES OFF.

See, I'm like Sharon - I didn't think they were actually smoking a joint! I wasn't looking too closely, I figured it wasn't another cigar, but the whole situation was totally sharing-a-joint.

Man, poor Lee. Even though he is a little bit of a bastard later on. He says he loves Dee, but seriously, I do not buy. (See, I said "I do not buy", when what I actually meant was the Israeli pull-down-an-eye-with-your-finger gesture.) Both he and his father apparently make the worst marriage choices, sigh.

I think he loves Dee after a fashion, but not like he loves Kara. Just like Kara loves Sam, but in a different way. Although I think she loves Sam more than Lee loves Dee.

It is complicated!

It went well. I spoke to my mom's friend from work and the mayer's daughter, who were both there working. My mom was really excited for me, which was really funny because I was too tired to care, and she has done this twice before with my older sisters AND it's not the last time she'll be going to vote for the first time ever with one of her kids.

I love this episode! And lol I pretty much had the same reaction when I first saw the ep ;)))

Wow, that article summed up exactly what I feel about these elections. I also took the political compass test a few days ago, and -- not that it's an exact measure for anything, really -- it put me as 78% Kadima, and 75% Meretz and Hadash, so his voting dilemma is pretty much the same as mine. I seriously did not know who I was going to vote for until I stepped into the booth; in the end, I voted for Kadima, ie the big party. I'm looking forward to seeing the poll results tonight, but because I think this election might be close, I don't think we can rely on tonight's results much.

PS - out of curiosity - did you try taking the Compass test? (You can take it in Dutch! *g*)

(oh, also one of my favorite UB things - although honestly fandom kind of went apeshit after UB so there was a LOT of stuff going on - is an icon of the moment when Lee shakes hands with Sam that says "Hi! I fucked your wife last night!" HAHAHA)

I really can't decide what I loved best about the episode, but it was probably the fight/flashback montages, every single one.

My mother just told me that the elections are over and they are predicting a win for Livni - Does that match what's being reported there?

(Also: Am a little o_O that my mother, who doesn't comprehend Google, has somehow gotten news before I did...)

A little late in responding, but as you have probably learned by now, this was correct :-)

However, the gap between Livni and Bbib was so small, that her party's only leading by one mandate. And since the right wing block by far surpresses the left at the moment - to my great despair - it is not at all certain who will be the next PM. Basically, it'll be the one who's able to form the strongest coalition. Which... sucks either way.
