Whee, I just got my first and hopefully not last 100 of this year, for a tiny tiny presentation I did this morning.
I am also all asquee after following
kassrachel's rec for Stephen Colbert's Christmas Special, which is hilarious even though I'm sure I'm not enjoying the jokes as much as people who were raised in a Christmas Special environment, but the Chanukkah duet with Jon Stewart had me on the floor. You can watch it here, and it works better with Firefox, streams really quickly in general, and if you only want to see the Jon Stewart segment, skip to 17:05. (You don't have to buffer the whole thing first, you can just skip.)
Two more links that made me smile today:
Book-a-minute classics - classic books in a nutshell (with links to SF/F book-a-minute, movie-a-minute, etc)
and
The Photoshop Art of Beauty - you probably all know that Dove photoshop video; these are just photos of celebrities before and after Photoshop, which always makes me feel better.
I am tired, but homework is fine and I am invited to a Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night, and in general, stuff's good. Randomly: last night I cried, literally, actually sobbed while watching episode 4 of Into the West, during the Sand Creek Massacre sequence. I hardly ever cry in movies, and that scene really made an impact, and made me think of... a lot of things, political and not. Anyway, strong emotion. Is good.
Hey, here's another strong emotion: I hate all 34 people who've already posted their Yuletide fics, yeah, including you guys on my flist. I am seriously beginning to doubt your human-ness.
Okay, got some reading to finish. Layla tov!

And I'm so glad the Christmas special made you laugh. It probably is funnier for those of us who grew up surrounded by dominant Christian culture; it's a perfect parody of the whole genre. But mostly I just love Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, a lot. :-)

I never saw any of the kinds of specials Colbert was parodying, but we did get all the Christmas episodes of various TV shows. So this reminded me especially of the ones you'd find in my childhood sitcoms, like Full House or Family Matters; I still remember specific Christmas episodes from those.
