Mar. 5th, 2003 06:09 pmGot out of bed pretty late today. Turned on TV at 3PM. Suicide bomber on a bus.
First immediate thought: Oh, fuck, we're going back to this?
Second immediate thought: Where, how many.
Third immediate thought: Good for the digital cable companies--they didn't use to change the caption at the bottom of the screen every time there was a 'breaking news' three hour broadcast, it just kept saying 'The Bold and the Beautiful'. Or whatever. But they've become prepared. Now it says 'changes in the schedule'.
Fourth immediate thought: Mental count of the people I know in Haifa. Naama doesn't leave the Technion, like, ever. So she wouldn't have gone out to the city. It's the middle of the week, so Inbal's in the army, her parents are at work and it's highly unlikely her sisters would have taken the bus. Niza, my mom's aunt, and her husband, would have been at home around noon, and they never take the bus anyway.
Fifth thought: thank god I don't know any other people in Haifa.
Change the channel. Titus is on Star World. Never watched the show, but I was always curious about it.
Five minutes of staring blankly at the TV later I change the channel back, watch for two minutes, lower the volume and go practice the piano. The news will keep updating until the evening, but they won't have anything new to tell me.
